Who Moved My DC Comic Book Heroes?

There has been some stirrings going on in comic fans utility belts lately since DC Comics announcement of the revamping of their super hero characters. Some favorable and some not. This announcement and pending change to our beloved heroes has reminded me of the book "Who Moved My Cheese." If you find yourself dismayed by the whole thing remember these points from the book.

• Change Happens - They keep moving the cheese. Hey, forty years ago, Batman moved from the Batcave below Wayne Manor to the Batcave under the Wayne Foundation building and back to the Wayne Manor Batcave. A change of scenery and a new pad is cool.
• Anticipate Change - Get ready for the cheese to move. Remember this has all happened before and it will happen again. Don't get attached.
• Monitor Change - Smell the cheese often so you know when it is getting old. Aren't you excited to see what changes are in store for your favorite super hero.
• Adapt to Change Quickly - The sooner you let go of the old cheese, the sooner you can enjoy new cheese. This isn't an April Fool's prank people. This is going to happen. So, the sooner you get over it the better. Think of all the new adventures. It worked for the J.J. Abrams new series of Star Trek movies.
• Change - Move with the cheese. Go with the flow. Are you really going to give on your beloved comic book series?
• Enjoy Change! - Savor the adventure and taste the new cheese! You may like what's happening with a whole new character.
• Be Ready to Quickly Change Again and Again - They keep moving the cheese. Refer back to point #2. Writers move on, Illustrator do too. It's bound to happen eventually. Be like The Flash and just run with it. 

I am excited to see what happens to DC's line of heroes. Aren't you? Just think of all newly designed toys.

What Was the New Wonder Woman Short, Shorts Costume Going to Look Like?

Well, here is it folks. The supposed costume to be worn in the Wonder Woman pilot finale has finally been revealed. Here is what Adrianne Palicki would have looked like as Wonder Woman in her short, shorts. We like short, shorts. How about you?

NBC Says "No" to Wonder Woman

Last night we finally got to see Tom Welling wear the old red, yellow and blue tights on the series finale of Smallville and I was looking forward to Adrianne Palicki donning Wonder Woman's short shorts in the Fall, but it looks like that isn't going to happen.

NBC has decided not to pick up the David E. Kelley version of Wonder Woman. Rumor has it the test audience wasn't hip on the updated version. Darn, I thought that was going to be my new show for next season. Sooner or later I am sure the pilot will pop on the Interenet. Well, there is always the Hulk, or has ABC pulled the plug on that too?

Anyone else disappointed?

Wonder Woman Wears Short, Shorts After All

Rumor has is it the Adrianne Palicki will need to start busting out the Nair because she will donning the classic star spangled blue shorts like Lynda Carter used to wear.

Anxious Wonder Woman fans were appalled at the blue latex leggings Palicki was found wearing in the initial photo release of her new costume. Shortly after, pics were released with a similar style pant, but more of a cotton material opposed to the latex.

NBC president, Robert Greenblatt says, that it was always planned to have Diana Prince maintain various versions of her costume, but I am not buying it. If so, why not mention that after the onslaught of any happy fans? Why now? Supposedly, Palicki will be seen wearing the traditional shorts in her final confirmation with Elizabeth Hurley, who will be the first villain, Veronica Cale.

I guess it's cool Wonder Woman is going to have an expanded wardrobe. Hey, Lynda Carter did. She had a scuba outfit, motorcycle outfit, and don't forget her roller skate outfit. Oh, boy. Can't wait to see the first pics in her new shorts.

Retro-Action DC Super Heroes Wonder Woman and Cheetah

Here's a look at the remaining characters from the 3rd wave of Mattel's Retro-Action DC Super Heroes. We've already taken a look at The Flash and Captain Cold, but let's take a look at Wonder Woman and Cheetah.

Other than Princess Leia, I have never really owned a female action figure, until now. Even with Mego's original Super-Gals line, which was part of the World's Greatest Super Hero collection, I never owned Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Catwoman, or Supergirl as a kid and still don't to this day. Not sure why that is other than probably as kid I thought of them as Barbie dolls and I guess I thought of Leia as one of the guys, but after seeing her in her slave girl outfit in Return of the Jedi that concept quickly changed.

First off, Mattel's version of Wonder Woman has a great costume and beats Mego's silk screened version. It is the classic comic book version. Not the current pant version like Adrienne Palicki will be wearing in the new Wonder Woman series.

She comes complete with lasso, bullet proof bracelets. and tiara, again unlike the painted Mego version.Overall, the figure is well done just like the other action figures in the line and has many improvements over the original.

I love the fact that Mattel has made a counterpart arch villain for each super hero in the line. Unlike, Mego, who primarily produced Batman or Spiderman villains (no complaints here), but they needed to produce more Super Foes to go with the heroes they sold. Cheetah is the purrrrfect arch nemesis to go along with Wonder Woman.

Cheetah is much like Batman's arch nemesis Catwoman and probably best remember for being  a member of the Legion of Doom on The Superfriends. Actually, Hanna Barbera, wanted Catwoman and The Joker to be members of the Legion, but weren't granted licensing by DC because of the characters appearing on New Adventures of Batman cartoon. Likewise, The Riddler and Scarecrow were not able to appear on the New Adventures of Batman. The Riddler can be seen in the opening credits, but with a pink outfit on, which makes me think they had intended for him to be on the show, but couldn't due to his Legion of Doom stint, But back to Cheetah.

Cheetah shares the same body mold as Wonder Woman and wears her traditional cheetah catsuit. The figure is pretty simplistic and does not have any accessories.

Kudos to Mattel on another wave of Retro-Action Dc Super Heroes well done. Looking forward to wave 4.

Your New Outift is a Wonder...Wonder Woman

Last week we had a glimpse of Adrienne Palicki in her new, little less than wondrous, Wonder Woman costume. For me the new clothes were okay for something new, but weren't quite making the woman.

Many fans sounded off with their opinions over the net with similar thoughts about the outfit. Especially, her iconic red boots. As you can see the red boots are as they should be and her, for lack of a better word, leggings are more of a cotton material, instead of the former latex look. They even are adorned with the star spangled star field were all used too.

So what do you think? Doesn't she look great in action?

First Look at Wonder Woman's New Duds.

So, I go on vacation for a week and look at what I missed. Wonder Woman put her clothes on. This came out a few days ago, but I thought I would share in case anyone missed it. Here's the first look at Adrienne Palicki in her Wonder Woman guise for the NBC TV series coming this fall.

I think it looks pretty cool, but she at least needs some red boots. I feel the costume has the look of the latest comic book incarnation, which is alright for something a little different, but I'll take Lynda Carter's satin tights over these any day.

David E Kelly Has Found His Wonder Woman

David E Kelly has selected Adrianne Palicki to star in his version of the Wonder Woman TV series. Palicki, who may be best remembered from Friday Night Lights, will be fighting for our rights in her satin tights this fall on NBC.

Palicki also had a role in the pilot of another DC comic alumni, Aquaman, as The Siren. The Aquaman TV series was never picked up because of the WB and UPN merger.

Superman XXX a Porn Parody Trailer

It was no doubt with the success of Batman XXX a Porn Parody, there would be a follow up with Superman XXX a Porn Parody.Vivid Entertainment and Axel Braun are at it again. This time with your favorite Man of Steel (no pun intended), Superman.



This version of Superman will be available on DVD and Blu-ray in January 2011.

The Music of DC Comics: 75th Anniversary Collection

My wife picked up a copy of "The Music of DC Comics: 75th Anniversary Collection" a couple of weeks off of Amazon for me and I have been enjoying it ever since. The CD includes 31 theme songs from DC's long line of comic book characters TV series and movies. This just isn't a bunch of re-done instrumental versions. These are the actual themes we all love from the TV series and movies. This is one of the best mixes of Super Hero themes I have heard in a long time. I love it so much I think it should have been a 2 disc CD. Wish The Challenge of the Super Friends, The Flash TV series, The New Adventures of Batman, and to many others to mention were part of this collection too. I put together a a semi sample of the CD below using the best copies a could find. Take a listen and hear for yourself this fine collection of music.

Cool Super Hero Birthday Cakes

I will be celebrating my 40th birthday this year and I have been talking to my wife about having one hell of a birthday bash.

My nephew, who is a couple of years younger than me, had a kick ass super hero costume birthday party last year that they called the Super Hero Summit.

I intend to have full blown cosplay party. My wife asked my what I thought we should do for a cake. So I started hunting around for some ideas. Here's what I found.

The Superheroine Monologues

I just came across this cool looking play called 'The Superheroine Monologues' and wish I could have checked it out. Looks like it was in Boston last year in April and September.

It features all your favorite super heroines in their costumed deliciousness. It even featured Batman villains the Penguin, the Joker, and the Riddler as well as, Superman's arch enemy Lex Luthor.

The play tells the stories of Batgirl, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Dark Phoenix, Catwoman, Lois Lane, and Storm.












This looks like it was a lot of fun and pretty funny. Hope it comes out on DVD or I get chance to see it if it goes into production again. Check out their site at TheSuperheroineMonologues.com.

Help I Need a Definition! This Looks Like a Job For The Super Dictionary.

Watching the Super Friends Season One Volume One

I just finished watching the first half of the recent DVD release of the Super Friends that my loving wife picked up for me. This is the actual first season of the Hanna-Barbera TV series.

Other releases have claimed to be the first season, like The Challenge of the Super Friends. Technically, I guess it was the first and only season under that title, but I considered every incarnation a part of the regular run of the series.

The opening theme to this season of the Super Friends is one of my favorites. The Challenge of the Super Friends intro would be the other.


It had been awhile since I had seen these episodes, but I still remember the gist of the majority of the stories. I always liked Wendy and Marvin too. I wish they would have had an explanation of what had happened to them when Zan and Jayna took their place.



There were 16 episodes in the original run of the first season. The newest DVD set has only the first 8. I guess that means there will be a Volume 2.

I never thought of the show as educational, but there many educational facts like the water mass of the earth sprinkled throughout the episodes.



If you loved this season as a kid, you'll at least like it for the nostalgia now. Funny thing is I was watching this with my 5 year old nephew and he asked me, Why is Batman wearing blue and gray? Damn I feel old.

Don't you wish they had actual villains from the comics in this season?

Golden Age Meets Silver Age Comics at DC Direct

The latest episodes of Smallville called "Absolute Justice" have left me a thirst for Golden Age Comic Book Characters.

DC Direct is geting ready release this fall the second series of Golden Age action figures with their Silver Age counter parts.

Each set includes two full sized figures packaged together. One is based on the art from the character's early appearances and the other based on art from the modern era.


Green Lantern modern version stand at 6.75" and the classic version at 6.5".


Superman modern version stands at 6.75" and the classic version at 6.5"


Wonder Woman modern stands at 6.75" high and the classic version at 6.5"


The Flash modern version stands at 6.75" high and the classic version a 6.5"

Each of the figures has multiple points of articulation and includes display bases and character specific accessories with 4 color clamshell blister card packaging.

These awesome figures go on sale September 1, 2010.

Even Wonder Woman Can Get AIDS

My company works with several charitable organizations (we do screen printing, embroidery, advertising items) and during the course of dealing with these organizations we have met a lot of great people.

One of the organizations we deal with heavily is AFAN (Aid For AIDS of NV). During our support of AFAN I have met some very nice, but unfortunately ill, people. Seeing these people couping with their illness makes me question why we can't find a cure for this dreaded disease. The thing is it has never hit home with me this much until now.

While looking through some photos I came across this picture of Wonder Woman and it really bothered me. Meeting real life people with AIDS has encouraged me to support and help charitable organizations as much as I can, but seeing this ad has really made me think we really need to do something about deadly diseases like AIDS and cancer. I know times are tough, but please give to your favorite charity. They need it now more than ever.
