Holy Toll House! Classic Batman '66 Cookie Jar Is On Its Way From Diamond Select
The Number of Classic Batman '66 collectibles continue to climb, but this is one item I hadn't considered would get made.
However, Alfred and Aunt Harriet were always bringing Dick Grayson cookies. So, I guess this item was a no brainer. This Bat Cookie Jar is on the way from Diamond Select and would look great in my collection. Not to mention, help with my sweet tooth.
You can expect this little Bat Beauty to be available for pre-order this week. It is 12 inches wide and has a retail price of $39.99.

25th Anniversary Star Trek Tribbles by Starstruck 1991
I thought I would end the 45th Anniversary of Star Trek Week here at The Batcave Toy Room with an item I picked up at a Star Trek convention back in 1991. These little buggers appeared in the original series episode 'The Trouble with Tribbles'.
Here they come! Those cute furry little creatures have been transported from the future. The original Star Trek Tribbles finally come to Earth to celebrate Star Trek's 25th Silver Anniversary.
Starfleet Command has unanimously approved, due to numerous Earthen requests, the beaming down of Tribbles to our planet. Within the last 23 Earth years, there have been reports of unofficial Tribble sightings. Only genuine Tribbles will possess Starfleet Command certification for passage into Earth's atmosphere.
My Tribble seems hungry. I think I'll get him something to eat.

Classic Star Trek Classic Science Tricorder by Playmates 1994
If you were in Starfleet back in the days of Captain Kirk, you most like have been issued a Classic Phaser and a Classic Communicator, but if you're in the science or medical division, you are most likely issued a Classic Tricoder as well.
Although, I feel this version of the Tricoder is molded in a child's size, it, like it's counterparts, is very well done. The Classic Science Tricoder features:
- Includes Three Classic Tricoder Sounds: Alpha Wave Scanning, Beta Scanning and Warning Alert!
- Light-up Viewscreen Display!
- Flashing Tricoder Indicators!
- One-Size Fits All Shoulder Strap!
- Bonus: Technical Blueprint Included!
The Classic Science Tricoder was a multipurpose scientific and technical instrument widely used throughout Starfleet, circa 2366. Earlier models of the field device were standard issue for Federation landing parties. Capable of scanning, computing, and recording several million bits of data at a time, the Classic Science Tricoder quickly became an indispensable tool for starship crews. Regarded as the first in a series of Tricoders, the Classic Science Tricoder is highly sought after by technical collectors of all generations.

Classic Star Trek Classic Communicator: Starfleet Standard Communication Device by Playmates 1994
Lock to my signal! One to beam up! Yesterday, we looked at the Classic Star Trek Classic Phaser and this time we look at its counterpart, the Classic Communicator.
I love this toy. Playmates did another superb job of re-creating the original. Especially, its chirp, when you flip up the metallized antenna grill. The Classic Communicator also featured:
- Includes Three Classic Communicator Sounds: Opening Activation Sound, Hailing and High Frequency!
- Working Signal Lights!
- Flip-Up Metallized Antenna Grill!
- Includes Certificate of Authenticity!
- Bonus: Technical Blueprint Included!
This is the first generation of subspace communication devices. The Communicator's compact and lightweight design along with its powerful range of 1200 kilometers made this communication device standard issue to all officers in Starfleet. This classic model was used for ground-to-orbit and global audio contact. Once aboard a Starship, the main computer handled all intership communications. Though this communicator was obsolete by 24th century standards, its simple design allowed for easy field maintenance and modifications. Of particular note are the manual dials which controlled emergency signals and frequency response of the communicator. These manual overrides were later replaced by an internal sub-matrix processor.

Classsic Star Trek Classic Phaser: Starfleet Standard Issue Sidearm by Playmates 1994
There's one. Set for stun! Oh, Wait. That's Star Wars. We're still on Star Trek week here. Although, with the release of the Star Wars movies on Blu-Ray we could do Star Wars week. Hmmmmm. Maybe next week. In the meantime, here's a look at the Playmates Classic Phaser.
For a toy, this thing could give any actual prop or replica a run for it's money. Playmates did an awesome job of recreating Starfleet's sidearms. This Phaser's features were:
- Light Up, Adjustable Beam Emitter!
- Two Classic Phaser Sounds: Stun & Higher Setting (They meant kill, must have been a misprint)!
- Certificate of Authenticity!
- Bonus: Technical Blueprint Included!
The Classic Phaser configuration consists of Type I Phaser interlocked with a Type II Phaser body. The two Phasers combine to create a powerful defensive weapon with minimal phase degradation. The Classic Phaser was standard issue to all officers in Starfleet. Designed around Federation's policy of creating weapons for defensive purposes, the Classic Phaser is a prime example of early Starfleet innovation. The Classic Phaser's simple yet highly effective design made it one of the most reliable weapons of its time. Highly powerful with adjustable settings, the Classic Phaser was the paradigm for early portable defensive side arms.

Star Trek: First Contact Strafleet Travel Set by Cosrich 1998
Not necessarily a toy set, but a Star Trek Collectible nonetheless. I think this Starfleet Travel Set was given to me as gift for a birthday or Christmas, not sure which. In a way, this is very reminiscent of the vintage Star Wars soap series.
The travel set came complete with the ever fragrant Captain's Cologne, soap, and wallet. If that Captain's Cologne is standard Starfleet issue I am sure that's how Kirk and Picard got the ladies.
The back of the package says it all: Be prepared to face the unexpected with the Starfleet Travel Set. This set is an essential part of anyone's Starfleet Gear-Cadet or Captain. You will fear nothing on your next intergalactic adventure with your new Starfleet Travel Set from Cosrich. These products have been safety tested and are non-toxic.
Why do I feel like taking a bath?

Star Wars Heroes and Villains Pancake Molds
I was always fond of the Batman and Superman cake molds from the 70's and always wished my Mom would buy them and make me a Batman cake, darn it. Unfortunately, that never happened. However, I have had tons of Batman themed cakes over the years. So, no complaints there.
My nephew, who will forever be my Robin, posts out of the blue Batman and Star Wars pics, collectibles, toys, etc. regularly on my Facebook page and he always finds the coolest stuff. The latest are these Star Wars Heroes & Villains Pancake Molds. Not exactly toys, but definitely collectibles. These are available from Williams-Sonoma for $19.95 and include molds of Darth Vader, Yoda, and Stormtrooper. I'll do the cooking...just bring the syrup. Yum!

My Green Lantern Movie Haul and Review
Last week my very cool, but non-geek wife, scored me tickets to the advanced screening of the new Green Lantern Movie and I was more than ecstatic. Finally, Warner Bros. was getting the rest of JLA on the big screen with my hopes of more to come. I am more of a DC guy than a Marvel, but Marvel has been doing an awesome job of bringing their characters to life and most of all, getting them all together for the epic The Avengers out next year.
Actually, the 15th, but the ticket says the 16th, |
Now the bad news, I have been nervous about The Emerald Warrior's movie debut since the release of the first trailer. So, were others and Warner Bros. countered any negative comments with "Part of the reason the response to the first trailer was lukewarm was that the big-scale sequences weren't ready to show, and we suffered for it. We can't afford to do that again." Yes, the the CG effects were great and I at one point was thinking, "Man I wonder what it cost to fly everyone out to the the Lost Sector." As for the rest, I do like Ryan Reynolds as an actor, but I am not quite sure if The Green Lantern was the right fit for him. At one point he was attached to The Flash and I think that might have been a better vehicle for him and I was alright with him as Deadpool too. As for the script it seemed like it was a first draft. Even though it had four writers and two of which wrote for comic books.
The script covered all the bases, but had so much to deal with, origins and villains, the editing was very quick cut to keep the story moving and get it all in. Blake Lively did OK as Carol Ferris and we may get to see her as Star Sapphire if there is a sequel, but the love story between her and Hal Jordan was non-existent in my opinion. I really felt nothing for these two.
Peter Sarsgaard was great as Hector Hammond and wish we could have seen more of him. Having to deal with Parallax and Hammond was too much for me. I am generally not a fan of two villains teaming up in a movie, as I think so many of these villains are fabulous and deserve the heroes sole attention.
Green Lantern is at least worth seeing and I do recommend you judge for yourself, but for $300 million, I expected more. You were descent on your maiden voyage Mr. Lantern, but you are certainly no Dark Knight.
Anyone else seen the movie yet? Let me know what you thought.

Gotham City Duel Electronic Racing Slot Car Set Was Just Added to my Wish List
While on a routine toy patrol and following up on a lead from my buddy Colin, author of The Super-Duper Toy Box, I headed over to Hobby Lobby to look at the plexi display boxes Colin picked up to display his loose action figures and to see what other collectibles I might find.
While I was there, I spotted this cool Batman slot car kit and I so want to add it my collection, but with the $150 price tag, it definitely would cut into my monthly toy budget. However, with one of Hobby Lobby's 40 percent off coupons, it would come to about $90, which is an awesome deal for this piece.
I was also hoping to find a Polar Lights Batcycle. I picked up my Batmobile and Batboat at Hobby Lobby, but I am yet to see the Batcycle for sale there. I could pick one up on eBay for good price, but with shipping the price gets knocked back up and I was hoping to use a 40 percent off coupon like I did with the other two models.
I am debating on using last months Adsense profits to pick up the slot car set, but I am also expecting to pick up the John Stewart Green Lantern on the 15th from Matty Collector and I am patrolling my local Toys R Us for the fourth wave of the Retro-Action DC Super Heroes line, which includes: Shazam, Black Adam, Martain Manhunter and Darkseid. So, I am going wait and see if I can pick up these other pieces before diving into the slot car race. Wish me luck on my hunt.

More Vintage Style Batman T-shirts
My very cool yet, non-geek wife picked up these ultra cool vintage style Batman t-shirts from Old Navy's Collectabilitees for me. My Batman t-shirt collection has been really growing lately. No complaints here, but I probably haven't had these many Batman shirts at one time since I was kid. But hey, these shirts definitely make me feel like a kid again and that's what life is all about isn't it.

Remodeling The Batcave Toy Room
With the remodel of The Batcave Toy Room Blog just about complete, I have tons of ideas for the remodel of the actual Batcave Toy Room. The main concept I have is to give it a comic book shop and toy store feeling.
All of the comic book and vintage toy stores I frequent in my home town have basically a slat wall design. With wall to wall slat walls with hooks and shelves for action figures and such. This also gives a bit of a retail feel as well, similar to seeing rows and rows of action figures on peg board with hooks at Toys R Us.
So I came across this laminate slatwall at Display Warehouse and found the slat board to be fairly inexpensive. A 4 X 8 panel is only 57.50 and I can basically cover a whole wall with probably 2 panels. They offer all kinds of hooks, brackets, and shelves in different styles to create a pretty sweet display. The majority of our furniture at home is cherry in color or dark wood. So I would probably go with the cherry color laminate.
Standard display cabinets or even slat board gondolas are also an option or a combination of both. I really haven't had a true instance of inspiration yet and I am still tossing around ideas. I will continue to keep you posted as the remodel continues.
Have any ideas on how to display my collectibles? Send me some pictures of how your vintage toys and collectibles are displayed. I need to have an epiphany.
