I haven't had much time to post lately, but today's views went through the roof and I had to share why. While tracing back to my referring sites, I discovered that director, actor, screenwriter and not to mention comic book writer, Kevin Smith linked to The Batcave Toy Room on Twitter today.

Remodeling The Batcave Toy Room

With the remodel of The Batcave Toy Room Blog just about complete, I have tons of ideas for the remodel of the actual Batcave Toy Room. The main concept I have is to give it a comic book shop and toy store feeling.

All of the comic book and vintage toy stores I frequent in my home town have basically a slat wall design. With wall to wall slat walls with hooks and shelves for action figures and such. This also gives a bit of a retail feel as well, similar to seeing rows and rows of action figures on peg board with hooks at Toys R Us.

So I came across this laminate slatwall at Display Warehouse and found the slat board to be fairly inexpensive. A 4 X 8 panel is only 57.50 and I can basically cover a whole wall with probably 2 panels. They offer all kinds of hooks, brackets, and shelves in different styles to create a pretty sweet display. The majority of our furniture at home is cherry in color or dark wood. So I would probably go with the cherry color laminate.

Standard display cabinets or even slat board gondolas are also an option or a combination of both. I really haven't had a true instance of inspiration yet and I am still tossing around ideas. I will continue to keep you posted as the remodel continues.

Batman Unable to Solve Santa's Secret Identity

How Far is Gotham City From the Batcave?

Fans of the Batman TV series are well aware of the distance to Gotham City from the Batcave. The answer is 14 miles as can be seen by the road sign the Batmobile passes as it exits the secret entrance to the Batcave.

A new book regarding Batman came out today,"Gotham City 14 miles: 14 Essays on Why the 1960s Batman TV Series Matters." I caught wind of this book from the Bat-Blog and I need to get a copy of this book myself.

The premise of the book is 14 essays written by 14 different authors in regards to the importance the Batman TV Series. If you'd like to get a copy of this new book you can do so HERE.

Fear not citizens. We're still on duty. While Gotham City's arch villains are currently locked up, I decided to take a well deserved vacation, but I'll be back in the Batcave very soon with more Geekness. Stay Tuned...The worst is yet to come.

Batman XXX: A Porn Parody DVD

We took a look at the first trailer for this a few months ago and it appears it is finally on sale...Batman XXX: A Porn Parody. This blog was designed to share my toy collection, but it also discusses things I remember from when I was a kid to what I find interesting in the Sci-fi realm. I have never owned a porno nor have I watched one in several years, but this porno parody interests me strangely.

From the looks of it the producers went all out on this one. From authentic costumes, Batmobile replica, and even using Bronson Cave as a location for the Batcave. If any thing check out the trailers. I found it interesting how they got around using the rights to Batman. We can't get the TV series on DVD, but we can get a Batman sex tape released. Go figure.



If anyone has picked up copy of this tell us what you thought. From a Batman stand point of course!

Pleasantly I found this this photo of Batman and Robin in the Batmobile posted on my Facebook today by my nephew. I have discussed my nephew before here at The Batcave Toy Room, but the nephew I usually talk is actually my great nephew who is five years old.

The nephew who posted the pic is actually two years younger than me. He was always Robin to my Batman and I probably put him through more torture devices than the Boy Wonder himself.

I always love when people know me to well.

Cool Batcave Playset From The Toyroom

Most Mego and Batman collectors I would assume own a vintage Mego Batcave. I have owned 3 in my lifetime. Including the one I have now box and all.

I have seen them sell on EBay for as much as $300 or more, but here is a look at a cool custom Batcave from The Toyroom.


Both sections open to reveal the playset. The playset doors double as floor space and the trophy room walls snap on to the sides.


Here you can see Batman at the Bat Computer that comes with interchangeable view screens.

The playset folds nicely as a carrying case.

This playest looks awesome. It may be a little pricey at $325, which puts it in line price wise with the vintage Mego version. If you are hungry for original Batman toys you might want to pick one of these up.

Batman Button

Here's a look at a Batman button from my collection. I am not sure where this button came from. It may have come with something Batman related or was just bought separately.

I do remember having a sticker with the same drawing of Batman. I had actually converted my G.I. Joe jeep into the Batjeep. I had painted it blue from it's camouflage color and then slapped the sticker on the hood.

The Batman sticker had the caption "To the Batcave," where as this button has no caption. I am not sure where the sticker came from either, but for some reason I think it came with my Remco energized Batman maybe.

The jeep is no where to be found as I believe my first wife "accidentally" (right) gave it to Goodwill with some other toys like my Mego Batcave. You would never believe how many of my treasures are buried in the Las Vegas dump.

Batman Wall Switch Cover

Here's a look at my Batman wall switch cover that watched over me for years. I think it glowed in the dark at one time. Not sure if it still does.

I should probably put this on the wall in the Batcave Toy Room now that I think about it. Oh shoot there are three switches on the wall. Never mind that won't work.

I am Jealous of This Batcave Toy Room

I have a huge toy and memorabilia collection, but my problem is space. I just don't have enough room to display everything. I saw this Batman Collection on Adam West's website and thought I'd share it.



This collection belongs to a gentleman named Paul. Paul is from Cornwall, England and his home is known as "The Cornish Wayne Manor"




This is my dream to have The Batcave Toy Room set up like this. Plenty of wall space for display cabinets full of collectibles and lots of room for posters.

Mego Batman Toy Comercial

When Mego's World's Greatest Super Heroes line exploded in popularity, Mego quickly began to produce ancillary toys to add to the excitement of its action figures. The majority of these toys were Batman related, which only made sense as Batman was one of the best selling figures in the line. You can see by this commercial that the 1966Batman television series was a big influence. From the including the Batpole in design of the Batcave. The design of the Batmobile modeled after George Barris' famous creation. Even the music in this commercial is reminiscent to the Batman theme from the TV series. Even the voice over sounds familiar. Holy Adam West!

Batman Goes XXX With a Porn Parody

Here's another parody of the Batman TV series opening credits. Only this time it's related to something a little more risque. We run a clean site around here, but I thought it was fun to see the altered intro. Looks like they went out to Bronson Canyon to film at the original exterior location used for the Batcave on the show and even had a replica Batmobile.

Batcave Home Theatre

It's my goal to have a home theatre one day. I haven't really been sure of how would have it designed, but I now have a pretty good idea. Check out this awesome theatre inspired by the Batcave.



This home theatre was designed by Elite HTS. Elite HTS designs home theatres and custom theatre chairs. Every chair design is different from the next as each chair is custom made according to the customers specifications.



Man it would cool to be Bruce Wayne and watch movies in this place.

My Mego World's Greatest Super Hero Wish List

When it comes to the action figure portion of my Mego World's Great Super Heroes collection I am pretty much satisfied. I am not really a completest when it comes to that. Generally, my collection contains items that I have had since I was a kid or items that had as a kid, but had to replace (do to my parents throwing them away, broken, etc). Mainly I am trying to have at least everything I had once owned as a child. My collection of Mego's is pretty much been restored with the exception of a few items.

Turn Off All the Lights in the Batcave Tonight!

I came across this video putting Maggie Gyllenhaall down for her portrayal of Rachel in The Dark Knight. I hate when they have to replace actors in a series and I don't know what Katie Holmes was thinking turning down the role she started...Maybe old Tom had something to do with it. You think? I actually think Maggie looks like Katie and they did a good job replacing her. So, I don't know what these guys are thinking making her cry.

Happy New Year From The Batcave Toy Room

Happy New Year! 2009 has finally come to an end and I am whole heatedly looking forward to 2010. I close out the year with a shot of Adam West as Batman in the Batcave from the TV series that I have never seen before. It is very similar to the Life magazine pose, but has the Batmobile's atomic pile in the background.

I am not sure if this is the source picture for the magazine cover or just a cool photo shop. Nevertheless, I thought it was cool to see a new photo.


In 2010 The Batcave Toy Room will begin to reveal more of my toy collection, movie memorabilia, and comic books. Plus whatever else genre and sci-fi related items that are of interest.
