Let There Be Light In My Toy Display Cabinets

Lights, camera, action. Well, maybe just lights.

I had mentioned previously on Day 3 that I need to replace the bulbs on one of my glass cabinets and on Day 25 of my 31 Days to a Better Toy Collection Challenge that's just what I set out to do.

Remember That Mess In The Batcave Toy Room?

Clearing the floor in the Batcave Toy Room
Day 2 of my 31 Days to a Better Toy Collection Challenge went from the toy room doubling as a storage unit to looking more like a toy display and what you see above on Day 17.

We've been selling, donating, and rearranging all of our excess stuff that was in the toy room. The great thing is this process is also taking place throughout the entire house.

There's A Messerschmitt In The Toy Room

Here's some shots of my toys from The Batcave Toy Room, which for me has just been a clustered mess. My goal was to find away to display all of my collectibles, but there was just not enough room and it had become a jumbled mess.

It Was The Best Of Times, It Was The Worst Of Times, When It Comes to Displaying My Toy Collection

It's been a lot of fun freeing my toys from their plastic tombs over the past few months. I often wonder if they feel like Jessie from Toy Story 2 and being scared to death to be put back in their shroud (I really don't think my toys are alive, it's that my oldest is really into Toy Story right now) Unfortunately, that may be what has to happen.

I really had hopes of being able to display all of my toys, but really, a lot of it is just looking like a cluttered mess. There is far too many toys and pop culture memorabilia to display in the space I have. That doesn't mean the Batcave Toy Room is no more, it means I have to re-think my plan for now.

I do have some ideas however. For one, Ron from Ron's Random Stuff, has been showing us what he has in his toy bins and I may have to do something similar as I pack stuff back up. You'll get to see what is going in the bins as I put the toys away. Secondly, Brian from Cool and Collected, rotates his toy display and I really like that idea. I will most likely will pick my favorites to display and maybe switch it up every now and then, but I really want the collection clean and organized and not have everything crammed together.

I've been picking up boxes for my loose vehicles and playsets lately. For me, displaying boxed items is easier and gives a better presentation than loose items do. Right now the loose items are taking up a good third of the room.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know what you think.

You're Going to Need a Bigger Toy Room...

I am almost done with the Batcave Toy Rooms reorganization, which I will be posting pictures of soon. However, disappointingly, I am not able to display my collection of vintage and modern toys in the manner I had hoped.  I simply do not have the space with everything limited to mostly one room. It is what it is, but building the world's greatest Star Wars, World's Greatest Super Hero, and Super Powesr Collection is definitely going to require more space. Display wise anyway, but check out the video below, this is for sure more of what I had in mind in way displaying my collection. My wife is super cool, but not cool enough to let me toy out the entire house.
