Fear The Walking Dead May Reveal How The Zombie Outbreak Began

fear-the-walking-dead-amc

During the Season 5 finale of The Walking Dead, we were treated to an ever so slight sneak peek at it's new companion series, Fear The Walking Dead. The new spin off series or prequel series rather, takes place in Los Angeles at the start of the zombie outbreak.

The new series will have all new characters and at this time will have no ties to the existing series other than it talking place in the same zombie apocalyptic Walking Dead world. Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, has commented on disliking fan favorite episodes like "TS-19" that had dealt with possible causes of the outbreak. So, it will be interesting just how much we will learn about the start or the cause of the zombie virus in this new series. Below is the official synopsis of new series:
What did the world look like as it was transforming into the horrifying apocalypse depicted in The Walking Dead? This summer, AMC will answer that question with Fear The Walking Dead, an all-new original series set in Los Angeles, following new characters as they face the beginning of the end of the world.
Here's a look at the new teaser:

Fear the Walking Dead star Cliff Curtis as a divorced teacher Sean Cabera, and Kim Dickens, previously seen in Deadwood and Lost, as guidance counselor Nancy Tomkins. Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey star as Nancy's kids, Nick and Ashley. The series will eventually catch up to the events of The Walking Dead.

AMC definitely has faith in the series as it has picked up the TV show for two seasons, kicking off with six one-hour episodes for the first season, which will premiere this Summer.

I have news for you buddy, it's not the flu. Anyone else excited for the new Walking Dead series?

New iZombie Opening Sequence Drawn By Michael Allred

liv-izombie-zombie

My soon to be new zombie love iZombie TV series is set to premiere this week and the CW has revealed the opening credits of the show based loosly on the Vertigo Comics of the same name. A cool connection to the new opening titles is that they are drawn by none other than Michael Allred, Madman creator, and the man responsible for the iZombie comic book's look.

RobThomas and fellow Veronica Mars alumni: Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge will executive produce the series. Through the title sequence the show has found a fun comic book way to tie the two mediums together. Take a Look: Here's what Thomas had to say to ComicBook.com at last Summer's San Diego Comic-Con about the upcoming series

"I think what we carried over was the big idea of the comic book which is the woman in her mid-20s becomes a functioning zombie and when she eats brains she inherits the memories. Even in the comic book she tries to solve these outstanding issues of the dead and we play that in the TV series as well. What I needed was a story mechanism that allowed her to do it every week. I wanted very closed cases and working in the police morgue gave me a dead, murdered body each week which made it easier to adapt as a TV show."

That new series iZombie is based on the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name and stars Rose McIver (Masters of Sex) as Liv, Malcolm Goodwin (Breakout Kings) as Clive Babineaux, Rahul Kohli as Dr. Ravi Chakarabarti, Robert Buckley (One Tree Hill) as Major Lilywhite and David Anders (Once Upon a Time) as Blaine De Beers.

The series premieres this Tuesday on the CW March 17, 2015 after The Flash. What do you guys think of the opening for the series?

Up, Up, and Away! New Supergirl Costume Revealed

first-look-supergirl-costume-tv-series

Just days after Melissa Benoist shared her thoughts on wearing the Maid of Steel's familiar red, yellow, and blue tights, Warner Bros. Television and CBS have given us the first look at Benoist in her new digs.

The new series began shooting this week and stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Kara Danvers/Supergirl. Benoist was formerly seen in the fourth and fifth seasons of "Glee" as Marley Rose and more recently in the Oscar nominated film "Whiplash" opposite Miles Teller.

Benoist's new Supergirl costume was designed by Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costumes for Arrow and The Flash and whose motion picture credits include Academy Awards for her work on Alice in Wonderland, Memoirs of a Geisha and Chicago, as well as an additional eight Oscar nominations for films such as Into the Woods, Snow White and the Huntsman, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Sleepy Hollow.

"In designing Supergirl, I wanted to embrace the past, but more importantly, thrust her into the street-style action hero of today," Atwood said.

Supergirl is expected to premiere in the fall and is crafted for CBS by producers Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "Flash") and Ali Adler ("Glee," "The New Normal").

Benoist has stated that wearing the costume is daunting, but I think she'll do just fine.

What do you think of your new Supergirl?

Melissa Benoist Reveals Her Thoughts on Playing Supergirl and Wearing Her Iconic Costume

Melissa Benoist  is anxious to start donning Kara Zor-El's iconic cape and tights, but admits she is eager to play TV's Supergirl.

The actress, recently cast in the title role of the "Supergirl" pilot, spoke at the Film Independent's Spirit Awards ceremony over the weekend and told Comic Book Resources that she's particularly looking forward to playing the superheroines down-to-earth side.

"What's so wonderful about her is that she is such a relatable character, amongst her powers," said Benoist. "What I'm the most excited about is telling a story about a human being really realizing their potential and their strength, and I think that's something that everyone will root for and want in their own lives – I'm really excited about that."

Benoist did not reveal which version of the traditional Supergirl's costume, if any, she would be wearing in the series, but she admitted at taking a good look at the Maid of Steel's hemline.

"It's a little daunting," she laughed. "It's daunting, but that's good. I like being pushed. I work well under pressure."

Before being cast as Kara, Benoist was seen in the fourth and fifth seasons of "Glee" as Marley Rose and more recently in the Oscar nominated film "Whiplash" opposite Miles Teller.

"I think if you told my five-year-old self that all this would be happening in this period of time, I would not have believed you!" she said. "Because it's been really wonderful. I feel so privileged to be working and doing what I've always loved to do since I was four years old…I'm a little overwhelmed by it, to be honest."

Supergirl is expected to premiere in the fall and is crafted for CBS by producers Greg Berlanti ("Arrow," "Flash") and Ali Adler ("Glee," "The New Normal").

Sorry Walking Dead, I May Have Fallen Love With iZombie

For the past five years I have relentlessly watch The Walking Dead. A show based on a comic book that I had never read, but quickly took interest in after watching the show in order to get a glimpse of what may be coming next. Now, a new series may be getting me to do that once again.

RobThomas and fellow Veronica Mars alumni: Diane Ruggiero-Wright, Danielle Stokdyk and Dan Etheridge will executive produce.

Check out the first full trailer for the series below. The series premieres March 17, 2015.

Thomas chatted about the series at the Television Critics Association. Check out some excerpts below:

We didn't hew terribly close to the source material. In the comic, there's a whole monster universe … and we wanted to stay strictly zombie. We really needed a story engine. We wanted a case-of-the-week show. In the comic, the character is a grave digger. By making her an assistant medical examiner and putting her in the morgue, it gave us our case of the week that we wanted."

The center of the show is a zombie you can fall in love with. A zombie you want to date. We were calling the show ZILFs. It helped me a lot that Warm Bodies had made it out in the universe and there was an example of a zombie you fall in love with. It gave us the confidence to say a zombie can be a hero of our show.”

Here's the series synopsis from the CW:

Olivia “Liv” Moore was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. Now as one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible. Her appearance passes for “Goth,” with shockingly pale skin and nearly white hair, and her demeanor has gone from exuberant to exhausted.

The change in Liv is baffling to her former fiancé, Major, her mother, Eva, and her best friend and roommate, Peyton, who still has the high-energy, Type-A personality that Liv has completely abandoned. Despite her post-traumatic ennui, Liv has devised a clever way to resist her baser urges to devour fresh human brains – she’s taken a job in the Seattle coroner’s office. In this appropriately dead-end job, Liv can secretly snack on the brains of the many Jane and John Doe corpses that make a final stop in the morgue. Despite carefully covering her tracks, Liv’s brilliant but eccentric boss, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, discovers her secret and is surprisingly excited about the scientific possibilities. Dr. Ravi even helps Liv in her search for Blaine, the zombie responsible for her current undead status.

Even with her boss’ enthusiasm, Liv remains resigned to an eternity as a zombie without hope or purpose – until she realizes that with every brain she consumes, she retains a portion of that person’s memories. Liv suddenly begins to experience disturbing and often violent visions from the point of view of the murder victims. Much to the surprise of Dr. Ravi and homicide detective Clive Babineaux, Liv often has detailed knowledge of crime scenes and motives that she can’t easily explain. Posing as a psychic, she works with Detective Babineaux to investigate these crimes and discover who is responsible. It’s not the same as being alive again, but at least she can find purpose in her undead existence by helping Clive solve the murders of those who are indeed fully dead.

How To Get Replacement Blu-Ray Discs For Batman '66: The Complete TV Series

If you're a Batman Fan like me and purchased Batman: The Complete Television Series on Blu-Ray or DVD, you undoubtedly noticed the defects in the product instantly. Namely, missing narration from Executive Producer William Doziers voice over as Desmond Doomsday in the pilot episode, the majority of the next weeks villain bumpers, and the missing scene from the Marsha, Queen of Diamonds, episode and were also left wondering...Has Warner Brothers dropped the ball? Is this our just deserts after waiting so long for our beloved series to come to DVD? Will we ever be able to really get the complete television series?

Fear not citizens! Warner Brothers has begun to get back to inquiring purchasers of the series with instructions on how to acquire replacement discs with corrections to the aforementioned defects and then some. So, here's the Bat Skinny on what to do and what they are offering:

If you haven’t done so already, you must register at www.shipment-service.com/batman66 and provide complete contact and shipping information for the replacement program for specific discs within Batman: The Complete Television Series on Blu-Ray and DVD.

The information provided will allow us to quickly service your needs upon availability; for Blu-ray sets - discs 1 and 5 will be replaced; and for DVD sets - discs 1 and 8. You will need the UPC / barcode number from the box set to complete your request.

So, if you haven't already, request your replacement copies and watch Batman as it was meant to be...Complete.

Here's the original press release regarding the problems and the fixes:

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) will provide fans with replacement discs and digital repairs to the few minor technical issues identified in its recent release of Batman: The Complete Television Series.

Amounting to less than five minutes of footage within the 50-plus hours of entertainment, the issues encompass one 60-second dropped scene in the episode entitled “Marsha’s Scheme of Diamonds”; a brief piece of rarely-heard William Dozier narration that originally opened the pilot episode, “Hi Diddle Riddle”; and an assembly of villain tags from the end of assorted episodes.

“The restoration process of this footage – spanning 48 years and two major studios – has been a super heroic task, and we deeply regret even the smallest of glitches occurring in that process,” said Rosemary Markson, Senior Vice President, TV Brand Management & Retail Marketing, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. “We recognize our obligation to the fans of this landmark series, and we have worked diligently to identify all issues and provide resolutions as quickly as possible.”

To resolve these issues for consumers purchasing Batman: The Complete Television Series, WBHE will make available complete replacement discs for the discs that originally included the episodes “Marsha’s Scheme of Diamonds” and “Hi Diddle Riddle.” The villain tags will be re-issued as an assembled string on one of the aforementioned discs and, as an added bonus, WBHE has acquired rights and legal clearances to both a Bat-vehicle teaser that originally aired as part of the second season-opening “Shoot A Crooked Arrow” episode, and one of the original promotional tags that aired on the original showing of the “The Duo Defy” episode. Additionally, all fixes will be made to all Digital HD versions of Batman: The Complete Television Series.

To obtain the replacement discs, consumers who have purchased Batman: The Complete Television Series are directed to http://www.warnerbros.com/help/customer-service.

Worldwide demand for the Limited Edition box set of Batman: The Complete Television Series has been tremendous, resulting in widespread retailer sellouts and rapidly dwindling inventories heading into the holiday season. To fulfill consumer interest, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced a new streamlined Blu-ray™ box set that includes all 120 episodes and matching enhanced content from the limited edition set, but without the added premium items or Digital HD copy. Purchasers of this set will also need to utilize the customer service website to obtain replacement discs.

Mattel's Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile

Atomic Batteries to power...Turbines to speed.

The above dialogues is as iconic as "To the Bat-Poles!" Or "To the Batmobile!" from the classic 1966 Batman TV series, but what does it mean? It means the Batmobile is revved up and ready for action and so is Mattel's rendition of the Dynamic Duo's rolling arsenal.
