Batman TV Series Props: Batarang and Bat-Communicator

I had picked up these two prop replicas at a Star Trek convention about twenty years ago. I thought it was too cool to have picked these up. I also picked up the Green Hornets mask at the same time, which I will share in another post.

CY Productions produces awesome Batman TV Series props. Everything from Batarangs to utility belts. I may have even bought these from Clint Young, who owns CY Productions, but I don't remember.

My Batarang and Bat-Communicator came as kits and had to be assembled and painted. I never really finished them. You can see below the hinges were never painted and has some scratches that need to be touched up.

The Bat-Communicator does not have the electronics hooked up and is missing the brass balls for the antennas. Confound it, the batteries are dead!

Here is a closer look with the antennae down. It wouldn't take much to get these in tip top shape, but I do need to put aside the time to work on them.

CY Productions sells both of these fully assembled and ready for action. Clint's new versions of the Batarangs are no painted. The plastic is molded in the correct color and comes in blue (like the TV series) or in black. So there is worry about scratching it. In case you didn't know Cy Productions produced the majority of replica's for the Batman reunion movie "Return to the Batcave."

Batman (Modern) Utility Belt Prop Replica On Sale June 2010

DC Direct's JLA Trophy Room Collection is too cool. For me there is too little room and too little time to get all there is get in the Super Hero collectibles realm. DC Direct has released several items of this collection already, which we'll take a look at in a minute, but here's what's coming up in 2010.

First up is one of the most recognizable parts of Batman's costume-his modern utility belt.

DC Direct's prop replica of Batman's belt comes in faux-leather, includes eight pouches with real, working high gloss snaps with Batman logo emblems and a real working gold-plated metal buckle with a Batman logo emblem.

The belt also comes with a display shelf and can be mounted.

This prop replica belt measures approximately 38" long, and the display shelf measures 7.25" high X 22" wide x 5.25" deep.

Batman's utility belt comes out June 9, 2010 for $350.oo US. Sorry Bat-Fans the belts not for wearing. It's intended for display only.

A perfect match to Batman's utility belt is one of the gadgets it contains: Bat-Cuffs.

The Bat-Cuffs prop replica is life sized and fold down to fit in Batman's utility belt. These metal Bat-Cuffs come with a special bat-shaped key. They can also can be displayed on the included stand. They come packaged in a four-color box, the Bat-Cuffs also come with a four color Certificate of Authenticity.

Sorry Bat-Bondage Fans the cuffs are for display purposes only and not for actual use.

Bat-Cuffs are available now for $125 US.

Batman is sure to come to the rescue no matter where he is beckoned with the Bat-Signal.

With the flip of a switch this device projects the Bat-signal an impressive 16 feet. This Bat-signal is powered by a plug in, UL adaptor and two ultra bright bulbs, plus a fan to keep it cool. It also has a swivel feature enabling the Bat-Signal to pan across the room.

This prop is approximately 12" tall x 2.25" wide x 9" deep and is packaged in a 4/C box. Also included is 4/C Certificate of Authenticity, a "Guide to the Trophy Room" brochure written by best selling author Brad Meltzer, and one replacement bulb.

If you working on building your own JLA Trophy Room here are a some great item to get you started.

How to Build a Life Sized Batmobile Tumbler.

It seems most Bat Fans I know prefer the George Barris 1966 version of the Batmobile. But if you love all styles of the Dark Knights crime fighting vehicle or prefer the new Christian Bale version, here's how to put together one for yourself as a display model.

I came across the site Instructables on how to make a life sized Batmobile Tumbler and Batman Themed Halloween Display and thought it was pretty clever. The articles explains it's so simple an average Joe can put it together, which is good for me as you wouldn't know I am my Father's son. I am only handy when I need to be.

The author, Jerry Jodloski did it as a Halloween Display last year. It came complete with an animated Batman, a Bat Signal, Batman themed music, Bat sound effects, and his wife Heather dressed as Batgirl. Check it out. It's pretty cool. I wonder if my wife would let me do this for Halloween this year?

Official Robin Replica Mask Just Got Added to My Wishlist

I was checking out what was new at Burt Wards Fan Site today and came across this little gem that I need to get into my collection. It's an official Robin Replica Mask.

The mask is polyester with a satin lining. Each mask is custom made by hand and professionally sewn.

A display case is available for the mask that makes it look like an awesome museum quality piece.

Also you can have it autographed by Burt Ward himself in any area you like (front, back, side) or not at all.

A plaque is also available in a couple of versions with a quote from the TV series or a description of the item itself.

If you like movie and TV series prop and costume replicas. This one you are definitely going to want to get your gloves on. Holy collectible!
