The History of Star Wars Original Filmcell from the Batcave Toy Room

Day 21 was not very eventful with my 31 Days to a Better Toy Collection Challenge.

I did however hang my History of Star Wars Original Filmcell plaque. The plaque itself shows the six main posters from each of the first six Star Wars films and contains an original filmcell from each movie.

It's day 20 of my 31 Days to a Better Toy Collection Challenge and I've done just about all I can do with the Mego section of the toy room. This the surviving remnants out of all the Mego WGSH toys that I have had in my lifetime and this part of my collection needs some beefing up.

I thought I would start showing what I felt was right with the Batcave Toy Room versus what I felt needed work for a change.

I always drive myself nuts when it comes to displaying my toys and pop culture collectibles, but when it comes to this set up I am completely satisfied.

Progress is mine.

I decided to stick to working on the curio cabinets in the Batcave Toy Room's auxiliary room, actually my home office, next to the toy room.

I gave the cabinets a thorough cleaning and worked on arranging my vintage Star Wars Micro Collection playsets.

There just isn't enough room in the Batcave Toy Room for everything.

The pic above is the back wall in my home office. The office is actually next door to the Toy Room and serves as an auxiliary toy room that allows me more display room.

The 12 Back Maneuver: The Other Side Of The Toy Room

I was really hoping to show all of you toy lovers out there the other half The Batcave Toy Room, but this past weekend was absolutely non-stop for me and I didn't have much time to work on it. However, here's is a little sneak peak of the other half of the toy room. I am hoping it turns out as well as the toy display I revealed last week.

The remaining space is primarily still very Star Wars heavy, but a good chunk of space is being reserved for action figures. I also reserved space for my Mego Worlds Greatest Super Heroes toys as well. You can see above my Early Bird Display Stand with the original 12 back Star Wars action figures in their respectable spaces on the display. The Luke, Han, and C-3PO are the oldest action figures in my toy collection, which the three of them were received for my tenth birthday.

I am going to work on getting back to work on the toy room this week, but I expect this week to be insane business wise and next weekend, which I am completely stoked about, is the Las Vegas Comic Expo. This is Vegas's answer to Comic-Con, which I have been snubbed from attending two years in a row now. So, I am really excited to attend. It mostly likely won't be anywhere as big as Comic-Con, but it's a start.

Hopefully, next week I'll have more pics of The Batcave Toy Room and some pics from the Comic Expo. Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer is going to be there too. Boy, do I love when her spine glows red.

The Amazing Spider-Man Toys On Display At Target

The Summer Comic Book Blockbusters are underway with The Avengers paving the way and we are just weeks away from the premieres of The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. For me, The Avengers did not disappoint and I am expecting the latter two to be no different and like The Avengers before it, The Amazing Spider-Man gets its shot a retail store display.

The design is similar to that of The Avengers display, but with a bit of of a difference...there seems to be plenty of stock.

I am not sure if The Amazing Spider-Man toys are just not selling or this Target just received more stock than they did for The Avengers.

Webs can be seen throughout the toy section similar to the Hulk footprints for The Avengers display.

I am not all that excited about this toy line, but these web shooters are definitely tickling my fancy. I am looking forward to seeing the movie however. Has anyone been picking up any of these items from the Spider-Man toy line?

Remodeling The Batcave Toy Room

With the remodel of The Batcave Toy Room Blog just about complete, I have tons of ideas for the remodel of the actual Batcave Toy Room. The main concept I have is to give it a comic book shop and toy store feeling.

All of the comic book and vintage toy stores I frequent in my home town have basically a slat wall design. With wall to wall slat walls with hooks and shelves for action figures and such. This also gives a bit of a retail feel as well, similar to seeing rows and rows of action figures on peg board with hooks at Toys R Us.

So I came across this laminate slatwall at Display Warehouse and found the slat board to be fairly inexpensive. A 4 X 8 panel is only 57.50 and I can basically cover a whole wall with probably 2 panels. They offer all kinds of hooks, brackets, and shelves in different styles to create a pretty sweet display. The majority of our furniture at home is cherry in color or dark wood. So I would probably go with the cherry color laminate.

Standard display cabinets or even slat board gondolas are also an option or a combination of both. I really haven't had a true instance of inspiration yet and I am still tossing around ideas. I will continue to keep you posted as the remodel continues.

How to Build a Life Sized Batmobile Tumbler.

It seems most Bat Fans I know prefer the George Barris 1966 version of the Batmobile. But if you love all styles of the Dark Knights crime fighting vehicle or prefer the new Christian Bale version, here's how to put together one for yourself as a display model.

I came across the site Instructables on how to make a life sized Batmobile Tumbler and Batman Themed Halloween Display and thought it was pretty clever. The articles explains it's so simple an average Joe can put it together, which is good for me as you wouldn't know I am my Father's son. I am only handy when I need to be.

The author, Jerry Jodloski did it as a Halloween Display last year. It came complete with an animated Batman, a Bat Signal, Batman themed music, Bat sound effects, and his wife Heather dressed as Batgirl. Check it out. It's pretty cool. I wonder if my wife would let me do this for Halloween this year?
