Toy Review: Mattel Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile Toy

Mattel's Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile

Atomic Batteries to power...Turbines to speed.

Roger, ready to move out.

The above dialogues is as iconic as "To the Bat-Poles!" Or "To the Batmobile!" from the classic 1966 Batman TV series, but what does it mean? It means the Batmobile is revved up and ready for action and so is Mattel's rendition of the Dynamic Duo's rolling arsenal.

Star Wars: Imperial TIE Fighter 1978-1982 from Kenner

Aside from Darth Vader's breathing or the igniting of a lightsaber, the sound of a T.I.E. Fighter screeching through space is one most recognizable sounds from the Star Wars universe.The T.I.E Fighter is also an integral part to any Star Wars toy collection.

After the Millennium Falcon, the T.I.E Fighter, or quite possibly the Imperial Troop Transporter (depending which I opened first) was one of my first vehicles from Kenner's Star Wars line. Receiving my first T.I.E Fighter for Christmas in 1980 as gift from my eldest sister. I actually received both the T.I.E. Fighter and Imperial Troop Transporter plus two Stormtroopers, Hammerhead, and a Rebel Soldier from my big sister that year for Christmas, which that holiday helped to wrap up the the gaps in my collection before the discontinuing of many of the original line of toys and the release of the second wave of toys from The Empire Strikes Back.

There would later be a bluish gray battle damaged version released, but for now we'll start with the classic white.

Authentically detailed TIE Fighter has two large "Solar panels" on either side of a spherical cockpit. Special buttons release panels to simulate "Battle Damage" action.

Hand operated lever raises seat and escape hatch to allow child to seat DARTH VADER or other Star Wars figures. Child? What do they mean by child?

For added play excitement, a dramatics red laser cannon  lights up and emits a "whining" laser sound when rear deck button is pushed.

Ironically, for the third wave of toys from The Empire Strikes Back, Kenner created action figures such the Imperial TIE Fighter pilot and Twin Pod Cloud Car pilot, but discounted the vehicles they piloted. How crazy is that?

Another Week of Purging, This Time Batman Toys and Collectibles

This weeks purging includes tons of Batman toys and collectibles as the cleaning up of my toy collection continues and it is going way better than I thought it would. Considering I have never sold anything on eBay before. I have bought tons of toys on the world's biggest auction site, but never sold anything. I guess mainly because I never thought I would part with any of my toys.

This week has lots of items from Mego's World's Greatest Super Heroes toy line. Most of this parts lot is of toys that are what's left of toys I had intended to restore, but just never got around to doing so or could never find what I needed to do so. I figure it's better to just sell the parts and just pick up a complete specimen.

Mego's Mobile Bat lab is almost as rare as my Batman's Wayne Foundation Building, so finding a complete version of this Mego created Batman vehicle is going to cost me a few bucks, but I look forward to the hunt.

You can also see my Remco Energized Superman and Batman. I saw some dead mint specimens on eBay a couple weeks ago for both of these and bid on both, but lost the bids. These both went for an average of $200. So trying to pick up these guys is really going to cut into my budget. I think I am going to concentrate on some other restoring projects and picking up some less expensive items to fill some gaps, which all of that has begun and I will be sharing my finds soon.

G.I. Joe: Purging a Real American Hero

Since it was Veteran's Day Weekend, I decided to continue the toy room purging with some of my vintage G.I. Joe toys from 1982-1984. As you know I am primarily a Batman or Super Hero and Star Wars toy collector.

All of these figures are broken at the waste, but would make a great battle diorama. The Battle Armor S.N.A.K.E. is in great shape however and comes with the box and instructions.

The G.I. Joe gang tore up that Cobra F.A.N.G. Probably shot it out of the sky with F.L.A.K. attack cannon or the Missile Defense Unit.

The V.A.M.P. and Polar Battle Bear are ready for action. Also, included are the tail gate hood and steering wheel from the vintage 12 inch G.I. Joe series JEEP. They were painted black to be converted to a Bat-Jeep. The Bat-Jeep was sweet at one time. The rest is all but long gone.

So, What Exactly was in Those Bins Full of Toys?

I've been having a great time going through my storage bins of toys and followers have been asking what was in those bins and bins of toys. Well, above is a look at the toys that were in those bins. Most of the bins contained Star Wars vehicles and playsets. Actually, everything I pulled is not in the pictures. I just didn't have room for it all in this photo.

I also put up these vintage Star Wars card backs on eBay this week as part of my purge project. I saved these card backs from my action figures from when I was a kid and many of them had proof of purchase symbols cut out for many of Kenner's free figure offers. The majority of the card backs even still have the blister bubbles still intact.

I am planning for my purge project to run through the month of November. I should be back on a regularly posting schedule by next week. My wheels have been turning with new acquisitions that I have in mind and I am planning to pick up as I continue to re-organize the Batcave Toy Room. Stay tuned.

Corgi Batmobile Collection

Here's a look at an awesome Corgi collection. The majority of the vehicles are Batman related and boy do they look sweet.

Looks like there are several versions of the Corgi 267 Batmobiles. Check out the one with the red wheels.

You can also see variations of the Batboat as well as, the Batcopter.

You can also catch a glimpse of the Supermobile there. I always hate that Corgi decided to have the fists in the front of the vehicle molded in red. I had painted mine silver at one point.
