TV Commerical Video of Batman Live World Arena Tour

I can't believe the Batman Live World Arena Tour is coming out in England first rather than the U.S. because this looks ultra cool. These TV commercials are popping up in England to start promoting this new show. It looks like Batman and Robin are going to have their hands full against the Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, and Poison Ivy. The costumes look great and very movie like. I hope this is coming to America soon. I wonder if the actors have British accents?

Darth Vader in the Best 2011 Super Bowl Ad

Sneak peaks of this years Super Bowl commercials are cropping up and for me I'd like to catch some sneak peeks of the trailers for the movies coming out this summer. Especially, Captain America: The First Avenger, but I'll have to wait until Sunday. In the meantime, here's a look at the latest Volkswagen commercial featuring Darth Vader. Your powers are weak young man.

Adam West Voice Over on National Hebrew Commercial

It's great that TVs Batman is still working even at 82 years young. West had provided the voice of Batman in the animated series The New Adventures of Batman and the last couple of seasons of the Superfriends. You can also hear his voice talents most recently as Mayor West on Family Guy, but here is Adam's latest for National Hebrew. Take a listen for his distinctive voice.

Remembering Star Wars Large Size Action Figures

I have never owned any of the large size 12 inch Star Wars figures, but they have always been on my wish list. I guess I just never got around to picking any up or just could never find complete figures without paying an arm and a leg.

I do have some 12 inch figures from Mego though. I have a Superman (the Christopher Reeve version), Magnetic Robin, and Spiderman. I'll get around to posting those eventually.

Reis over Geek Orthodox picked up a sweet 12 inch (sorry 15 inch) Darth Vader at the Emerald City Comic-Con this past week and inspired me to look into starting my large size figure collection.

The 12 inch line from Kenner sadly didn't last long, but here's a look at the commercials I remember seeing while watching cartoons on Saturday morning.

What was Your Favorite Part of the Weekend When You Were a Kid?

One of my favorite parts of the weekend was there was no school, of course, but the other part was Saturday cartoons. I couldn't wait to get up watch shows like the Superfriends, The New Adventures of Batman, Spiderman and His Amazing Friends, or The Incredible Hulk.

The theme songs from all of these shows are embedded in my head for all eternity. My other favorite part was the toy commercials that played in between. Especially, the Star Wars toys. Not only was it cool to see the toys in action, but I especially liked the fact that scenes from the movies would be shown at the start of the commercial.



Ever wonder what was up with the Riddler wearing that red outfit rather than the normal green? The Riddler had originally been intended to be a villain on the series, but the rights had been given to The Challenge of the Superfriends for the character. Rather than change the opening credits the suit was changed to red to prevent copyright infringement. Vice versa the Joker and Catwoman were planned to be a part of the Legion of Doom, but did not appear because the rights to those characters were given to the New Adventures of Batman.

Holy Acts of Congress! Batgirl Wants Equal Pay

Most of the Batman cast was reunited in 1974 for the PSA message for equal pay for men and woman. When the 1989 Batman movie came out a lot of footage came out that was Batman related including this commercial.

I do vaguely recall seeing this when it originally was airing although I was about 4 years old. Every bit of Batman footage that had been archived came out of the wood work in 1989. I remember seeing this on a compilation tape of various Batman footage called 'Batmania'.

William Dozier came back to do the Desmond Doomsday narration, Burt Ward as Robin, and Yvonne Craig as Batgirl. All reprised their roles for this Public Service announcement, but no Adam West. I've never been able to find out why he didn't participate. Maybe he was still fighting the type casting thing. Batman was portrayed by Richard Gautier, who was best known as Hymie the Robot on Get Smart. It's fun to watch. Check it out.

Super Powers Collection Featuring the Batmobile From Kenner

My Super Powers Collection is relatively small as I only have a few action figures. Star Wars toys were still prominent with me when the Super Powers collection came out.Star Wars figures always won out budget wise. Not because they were cheaper, but because it was either one or the other.

I absolutely love the Batmobile. I don't know why I never picked one of these up. Need to look into that. It's fun to watch the old commercials. Reminds of Saturday.

Mego Batman Toy Comercial

When Mego's World's Greatest Super Heroes line exploded in popularity, Mego quickly began to produce ancillary toys to add to the excitement of its action figures. The majority of these toys were Batman related, which only made sense as Batman was one of the best selling figures in the line. You can see by this commercial that the 1966Batman television series was a big influence. From the including the Batpole in design of the Batcave. The design of the Batmobile modeled after George Barris' famous creation. Even the music in this commercial is reminiscent to the Batman theme from the TV series. Even the voice over sounds familiar. Holy Adam West!

To the Metro Robin!

While looking at old vintage Batman Commercials I came across this one for a Metro. Like other commercials I've seen, the producers did an alright job re-creating the Batpoles and Batcave from the TV series. They even had a pretty sweet looking Batmobile. I loved the extra thought of giving the Metro the vanity plate of Bat 2 to the corresponding Batmobile license plate Bat 1. But as for the notion of Batman and Robin riding around in a Metro...never happen.

Even Batman Goes Christmas Shopping.

Getting in the Christmas spirit I found this commercial for Zayres starring Batman and Robin. It's totally a take on the old series that starred Adam West and Burt Ward. For what I am sure was relatively a low budget, I think they did a good job of capturing the spirit of the series. Love the Christmas wreath hanging behind the batpoles.
