Action Comics #1 Sells For $1 Million

Since he started selling comic books at age 16, Vincent Zurzolo had only dreamt of selling a million-dollar comic book.

Monday was his lucky day. That was the day that Superman hit the jackpot.

"It is the single most important event in comic book history," said Zurzolo, who c0-owns auction site ComicConnect.com with founder Stephen Fishler.

The first comic book featuring the Man of Steel was a 1938 issue of Action Comics number one.

Most comic book or Super Hero fans would know the cover anywhere. It features Superman lifting a car on the cover and originally sold for 10 cents.

"When you look at what happened to real estate, the stock market and in banking, people are terrified. They're making no money in the banks, they're not sure about real estate, and the stock market is like playing roulette," Zurzolo said. "With comic books, they feel a lot more confident."

The copy is reportedly in better condition then its predecessor that sold for $317,000 last year.

"Now we've hit a point where you can lump us in with fine art," Zurzolo added.

Autographed Batman Forever Nicole Kidman Poster

Here's a look at one of my favorite collectibles and part of my autograph collection at the same time-My Autographed Batman Forever Nicole Kidman Poster.



When the posters in this set came out to promote the latest Batman movie I had easily picked up the other four posters in the series, but was not able to find the Chase Meridian piece of the puzzle. Shortly after I bought the other four in the set I happened to catch QVC doing a Batman Forever special segment.



Wouldn't you know it? They were offering all five from the set. Not only framed, but autographed by each of the actors whose characters were portrayed in the posters. I couldn't resist getting the one I needed to complete the set.



I would have loved to get all of them, but at $300 a piece back in 1995 it was a little bit out of my budget back then.

Ralph Garman Meets Adam West

I remember seeing Ralph Garman's Batman Collection on Inside Edition or something back when the 1989 Batman movie was coming out. For those of you who don't know who Ralph is, he's a voice actor and fellow Bat-Fan.

You can see here he came to his wedding in the Batmobile. How cool is that? I would have loved to left in the Batmobile after my wedding, "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" Ralph also got to hang with Adam West during a TV Land special "Living in TV Land" and was able to get Adam to wear a Batman Cowl for him.
