The Dark Knight Rises is Re-titled Inception 2

The Dark Knight Rises is beginning to look like a cast reunion for Inception. We just need to add Leonardo DiCaprio and we're all set. There are a lot of directors who like to use the same actors for their projects and it looks like Christopher Nolan is no different.

We previously speculated that Natalie Portman is out of the Running for Batman 3. Along with her, Marion Cotillard, who like Portman is pregnant with her first child. But it looks like that is not the case as Cotillard will be joining Christian Bale (Batman) and Anne Hathaway (Catwoman) in the third installment of Christopher Nolan's take on The Caped Crusader.

Cotillard will also be joining her Inception co-stars, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Leavitt (in an unannounced role). She will also be joining Michale Caine, who also starred in the film.

Cotillard, who is due in April, will begin filming her scenes in June and continue on until November. The Dark Knight Rises is set for a July 2012 release.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Joins the Cast of The Dark Knight Rises

We had previously reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was up for the part of The Riddler in the next Batman movie, but so far we may be half right as Gordon-Levitt has been added to the cast.

Some rumours out there are now saying that Joesph Gordon-Levitt is playing the part of Dick Grayson. Christopher Nolan has said before that they'll be no Robin as long as he is the director of a Batman movie and Christian Bale claims that if Robin is in, he's out. So, that doesn't mean we won't see Dick Grayson. Maybe just without a red vest and yellow cape.

What do you think about Joseph Gordon-Levitt as The Boy Wonder?

Anne Hathaway to Play Catwoman/Selina Kyle in 'Dark Knight Rises', Meow!

The cat is out of the bag. No pun intended. Well, maybe. Christopher Nolan has finally announced Anne Hathaway will be the next bat-villain in his third installment of his Batman series franchise as Catwoman. We had speculated that Hathaway would be the winner to play the jewel thief love interest of Batman/Bruce Wayne. He also has announced who Tom Hardy will play. We had hopped for Professor Hugo Strange, but that will not be the case.

Hathway was one of the actresses that was listed on Nolan's short list. Other contenders, such as Natalie Portman and Marion Cotillard, were ruled out due to pregnancy. In a press release Nolan stated:
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble cast as we complete our story."

We were thinking that Tom Hardy may be a good match as Hugo Strange, but he will be playing the back breaking Knightfall villain Bane. Last seen in Batman & Robin. Let's expect that this experience will turn out better than the previous one.

That leaves just one more role to be announced. That of Bruce Wayne's love interest. Or is Anne Hathaway filling both shoes as villain and love interest? Stay tuned.

Who is and Isn't Being Cast in The Dark Knight Rises?

Batman 3 rumors are flying around everywhere in regards to who is or isn't being cast in Christopher Nolan's next Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.

First, we know that Tom Hardy has been officially cast already, but the question remains, what will be his role in Batman 3? Most are speculating that he will play Professor Hugo Strange. Especially, since Hardy has been sporting around with a shaved head and the beginnings of facial hair growth, which seems to fit the appearance of Strange, who is one of Batman's oldest villains.

It has also been reported that Nolan and his writing partners, brother Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer, who used Batman: Year One as a basis for Batman Begins and The Long Halloween for The Dark Knight, are now using Prey for the basis of The Dark Knight Rises. Prey features Hugo strange prominently. The supposed leaked script also seems to follow this storyline.

Other rumors revealed Nolan's choices for six lead actresses to fill roles for two main parts. One as a villain and one as a love interest. Natalie Portman and Marion Cotillard were rumored to be a part of that elite group, but the pregnancy of both has eliminated them from the list.

The latest rumor from Collider has Naomi Watts cast as Vicki Vale and Eva Green as Talia al Ghul. The story also revealed a new look to the Batmobile and Batcave. An excerpt from that articled revealed:
"Our source 'Raphael' tells us that the new Batmobile (aka The Tumbler) has been redesigned as a sleeker version, but still powerfull with all the gadgets. As for the Batcave, it will b e the same cave we saw in Batman Begins and they're attempting  to keep the classic stuff like the circular bay for the Batmobile, but keep the look modern. They're also setting up the Batcomputer and storage for the Batsuits. And if there is a new Batmobile and a new Batcave, is it possible we'll be getting a new Batsuit in The Dark Knight Rises? (Hint, hint)"

Heat Vision has also reported that Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara, Gemma Arterton, Kiera Knightley, Charlotte Riley are scheduled for screen tests. The rumor screen tests are about to commence are confirmed by a comment that Christian Bale made to THR at the NBR Gala, stating he had to get back to  Los Angeles to work on screen tests with his possible co-stars.

Here are the odds of these lovely ladies being cast in The Dark Knight Rises:

Anne Hathaway
Odds 3:2. Providing she doesn't price herself out of the running
Jessica Biel
Odds 5:1. May not be able to play an International Femme Fetale' like Talia al Ghul
Kate Mara
Odds 10:1. She'll have to knock Nolan's socks off to get this one

Gemma Arteron
Odds 20:1. She getting ready to do Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters, which will probably have scheduling issues

Kiera Knightly
Odds 2:1. She may be a runner up.

Charlotte Riley
Odds unknown. Would Nolan cast her and boyfriend Tom Hardy in the same movie.

I'd love to see them all in the next Batman movie, but my money is on Anne Hathaway right now. Any opinions?

No Catwoman for Marion Cotillard

Christopher Nolan's selection of female leads for his third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, is shrinking. Why? They are beginning to breed like rabbits.

First the announcement of Natalie Portman's pregnancy and now Oscar winning actress Marion Cotillard will be passing on the role of Catwoman for an entirely different role. The role of new mom.

The 25 year old Cotillard is expecting her first child with actor/filmmaker Guillaume Canet. Like Portman, there were rumors of Cotillard having a role in Batman 3 as the new Catwoman.

Well, there are still plenty of potential leading ladies on Nolan's list of potential female leads. In the meantime, congratulations to both of these fine actresses.

Plot Leaked for The Dark Knight Rises

The script for Batman 3 may have possibly been leaked. According to Scriptflags.com they have a copy of the Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer's screenplay for the upcoming third Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.

Scriptflags isn't a 100% sure it is legit themselves, but they say, "if it's a fake, it's the best fake we've seen."

Here's what the say is in the script:
  • The assassin Deadshot (Floyd Lawton) is broken out of prison and brought to Gotham City.
  • Crime is way down in Gotham and Batman has become more of a myth than anything else.
  • Batman has a Batwing like aircraft called "The Wraith," a rebuilt Wayne Manor and Batcave and an EMP equipped Batmobile.
  • Wayne Enterprises is struggling with competition (and a lawsuit) from Roland Daggett's Daggett Industries (which, in the animated series, invented the goop that turns actor Matt Hagen into Clayface), and Lucius Fox feels he must turn against the irresponsible Bruce Wayne.
  • The Villainous Black Mask has hired Dead Shot and is working with Roland Daggett, although it's unclear who he's been hired to kill (probably Batman or Bruce Wayne, of course).
  • Eward Nashton has the Riddler's name, but Hugo Strange's character, as he figured out Batman's identity and uses this to mess with the Dark Knight's head.
  • Commissioner Gordon and a Detective Adams are heading up the task force to catch Batman.
  • Talia al Ghul makes a brief appearance.
There is a whole lot of stuff shoved in here and feels a lot like Spiderman 3. If this is a real deal it may be a copy of the first draft as it doesn't seem like the well formed, smooth flowing story we have seen from the previous Christopher Nolan Bat-films. It will be interesting to see if any of this true, but one main item that seems to be lacking are Nolan's two leading ladies that he has been looking to fill. Talia al Ghul is mention, but who's the other?

Natalie Portman Shows the Baby Bump at the People's Choice Awards

Well, it is definitely not just rumor. Natalie Portman is pregnant an engaged. The co-star and Thor love interest, pictured here at the People's Choice Awards, was seen carrying a baby bump. We're still waiting on the news of which two actors Christopher Nolan has chosen to appear in the Dark Knight Rises, but Portman is definitely out.

Anyway, this is what Portman should be looking like in a few months.

The question is, wouldn't it be interesting if she had twins and name them Luke and Leia? Causing a paradox and bringing the Star Wars prophecy of the chosen one into reality. What the heck am I talking about? Star Wars is a reality. The next Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises" begins filming May 2011. Man this is beginning to feel like forever from now.

Natalie Portman Out of the Running For Batman 3

We've seen Padme pregnant with twins in the Star Wars prequels, but this time it is real. A rep for the 29 year old Golden Globe nominated actress confirms that Natalie Portman is pregnant.

And then there were five. We previously reported that director Christopher Nolan had a list of six actresses that he was meeting with for parts as either a villain or love interest in The Dark Knight Rises. Since Natalie Portman will probably be due or there abouts the time that Batman 3 will beginning filming, she is most likely out of the running.

Portman has not released the due date of the baby or her forthcoming wedding. That's right fellas, Portman is off the market. She is engaged too.

(via TheMarqueeBlog)

Update 01/04/10: Natalie Portman who was interviewed recently by Entertainment Weekly was asked about her possible role in The Dark Knight, What was her reply? "Oh, I don't know anyhting about that." The fact that she is now pregnant leaves Natalie Portman out of the running for Batman 3. Since filming will probably begin around the time she is due.

Anne Hathaway Confirms Possible Role in Batman 3: The Dark Knight Rises...Maybe

We now know what happened to rumor that rumor of Heath Ledger having a cameo in Batman 3...it was false, but few weeks ago we discussed that Christopher Nolan was meeting with six actresses for two possible lead roles in his next Batman movie. One role is to be a villain and one a love interest. Time will tell who will fill these parts, but one possible candidate is Anne Hathaway.

In an interview with Deadline, here's what Anne had to say:

Deadline: There is a strong group of actresses in your age range who are mentioned for all plum parts that come along. It's going on right now as Chris Nolan gets started on a new Batman, and you've been mentioned as a candidate for that. Do you find yourself competing against certain actresses or any you measure yourself against?

Hathaway: Of course, but that has always been the case. There is always competition...I don't know how to answer that question, it feels too revealing, somehow.

Batman 3 Rumors: Heath Ledger, The Return of Two-Face, Who the Next Batman Villain Will Be

Rumors surrounding The Dark Rises like Heath Ledger appearing in Batman 3 are going around everywhere. Most recently news leaked that Batman will encounter a villain that learns his true identity, sounds like Professor Hugo Strange to me, and that Commissioner Gordon is ordered to arrest Batman. The good news is these rumors are all true, but may not be exactly true for The Dark Knight Rises.

This seemingly logical plot description is actually for the video game Batman: Arkham City. Sounds like it could be the plot of the next Batman movie couldn't it? After all, The Dark Knight ended with Batman on the run from the police, who believe him responsible for murders that were committed by Two-Face.

So the rumors could be true, but the only things that have been confirmed about the movie so far are the title, that The Joker and Two-Face are out, and Tom Hardy has a role. I am sure we will learn more by the time filming begins next April or the very least on July 20, 2012.

Are you excited about the next Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises?

Both Ledger and Eckhart Are Out For Batman 3: The Dark Knight Rises

We had discussed previously the appearance of Heath Ledger's Joker in Batman 3: The Dark Knight rises and it turns out it was just a rumor. Christopher Nolan has confirmed that Heath Ledger will not have a cameo in the latest Batman film.

IndieWire reports:

shoot down reports that he'll resurrect The Joker by including unused footage of Heath Ledger's performance in the previous chapter. "That's all wrong," said the writer-director, who's also producing the next Superman movie, for Zack Snyder to direct.

On a similar note, the rumor of Aaron Eckhart appearing in The Dark Knight Rises is also a rumor.

Eckart told MTV News:

"Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us...I said, 'Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I'm in the next Batman. And Chris said, "Yes? I said, 'Am I?' He looked at me and he said, 'No.'

You can hear Aaron Eckhart confirm no Two-Face in The Dark Knight Rises HERE.

So, what do you think? Are you disappointed The Joker will not be back even in a cameo? Wouldn't it make sense since Two face is dead that it wouldn't make sense that he returned anyway. Let us hear your thoughts.

Heath Ledger to Appear in Batman 3: The Dark Knight Rises

I loved the fact that Christoper Nolan gave Cillian Murphy a cameo as the Scarecrow in The Dark Knight. I'd love to see more cameo's in the Batman movie series. Maybe even from a villain we haven't seen before like the Riddler, but I've also thought, wouldn't it be cool if the Joker had a cameo? Well, that may just be happening.

According to Showbiz Spy Christopher Nolan is planning on using unseen footage of Heath Ledger's Oscar winning performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

"Chris wants some continuity between movies and for the franchise to pay tribute to Heath and his portrayal of the Joker."

What do you think about this news? Should the Joker have a cameo in the new Batman movie? Or should Christoper Nolan leave well enough alone?

The Dark Knight rises is pre-production and has release date of July 20, 2012.

Will Batman Go the Way of Wonder Woman and The Hulk?

With both The Hulk and Wonder Woman having TV pilots in the works, what will happen to The Dark Knight after the upcoming third Batman film? The next Batman movie: The Dark Knight Rises will undoubtedly be the last film in the series that Christopher Nolan will direct. This will probably also mean that Christian Bale will hang up the cowl as well.  So what will become of The Caped Crusader after 2012?

Rumor has it hat Warner Bros. wants to bring Batman back to the small screen just as Smallville is coming to a close and a new Superman film is in the works with Christopher Nolan producing. It's interesting to see things come full circle in a way. Originally, the producers of Smallville wanted to do Gotham and do a story about a young Bruce Wayne.  The story was changed to base the story on a young Clark Kent after Warner Bros wanted to re-boot the Batman film series. Holy flip flops!

Word is Karl Urban is being looked at to play Bruce Wayne. I thought Urban was great as Dr. McCoy in the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek film, but I am not sure I am sold on this. I think this is more like a case of "Dammit, Jim. I am a doctor, not crime fighter."

What do you think of Batman continuing as a TV series rather than a movie series?

Vicki Vale? Catwoman? Talia al Ghul? What Female Leads Are Being Cast in The Dark Knight Rises?

Deadline has reported that Christopher Nolan is going to meet with six actresses for either a role as a villain or as a love interest for Batman (Christian Bale). The six actresses being considered for roles are: Rachel Weisz, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway, and Keira Knightly. It is unknown which actress is being considered as either a villain or a love interest.

Here's what I think about these lovely ladies.

Rachel Weisz

Rachel Weisz has been rumored to be playing Catwoman before. I personally think she would be a great Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman could possibly play Talia, but she's going to be in Thor next year. Nolan may not want to bring her into the DC Universe since she is going to be in the Marvel realm first. However, this wouln't be the first time an actor or actress has starred in both Marvel and DC comic movies.

Naomi Watts
I could see her as either Catwoman or Vicki Vale.

Blake Lively
Another possible Thalia, but starring in another Warner Bros/DC Comic Franchise...Green Lantern. Chances are Warner Brothers isn't going to let it happen.

Anne Hathway
I seem to keep steering towards Thalia as the villain, but I don't really see Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.

Keira Knightley
Since Natalie Portman is being considered for a possible villain role maybe she'll play Talia's decoy. Sort of like Ken Watanabe to Liam Nissan's Ra's al Ghul. Hell it worked on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.

So, it's seems our theory Marion Cotillard of playing Catwoman is probably not going to happen. It will be interesting which direction Nolan will go with these roles. Since Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts are about the same age, I think that Nolan is considering them for the same part. Likewise with the other four.

What do think? Think any of these ladies could handle The Dark Knight ?

Batman 3 Has a Name and It's The Dark Knight Rises

The title of the sequel to The Dark Knight has been revealed by director Christopher Nolan. But still no word on the next villain.

Batman 3 will be known as The Dark Knight Rises and The Caped Crusader's next arch villain won't be The Riddler, as previously speculated with Joesph Gordon-Leavitt possibly playing the part.

We at least know what to call the next installment of the Batman series, but with Mr. Freeze and The Riddler out as villains, who is it going to be?

Third Batman Movie is Finally Official!

Warner Brothers has finally confirmed a third Batman film is in the works and will be released July 20, 2012.

The studio has also confirmed that Christopher Nolan would return to direct the follow up to his smash hit The Dark Knight. Nolan is working out the story with Batman story contributor, David Goyer.

No title or talk of the next villain, but I am sure the rumor mill will be firing up real soon.

Only two years to go. Let's hope it lives up to the others.

Superman May go the Way of the Dark Knight

Warner Bros. is trying to get Superman up and running again and has enlisted Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan to get it done.

According to Deadline Hollywood:

Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan's leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office...

Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. AS one of our insiders reassures: "It would definitely not be a follow up to Superman Returns."

Warner Bros. was not happy with Bryan Singer's 2006 reboot of the Superman franchise and is obviously looking to start from scratch.

News of David Goyer leaving Flash forward has begun speculation that he left to begin work on a third Batman movie, which Deadline Hollywood also confirmed:

Now [Nolan's] brother and frequent collaborator Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer who co-wrote Batman Begins and penned the story for The Dark Knight, are off scripting it.

So what are you excited about more? A new Superman movie or a third Batman movie?

Possible Villians for Batman 3

Here is who some fellow Bat-Fans thinks should be the next villain for the next Batman film following The Dark Knight. Rumors have been flying since The Dark Knight's release. Everyone from Johnny Depp playing the Riddler, Rachel Weisz, Angelina Jolie, and Maggie Gyllenhaal playing the Catwoman, to Philip Seymour Hoffman playing the Penguin.

Do you agree with any of these fan favorites? Who do you think should be the next villain? And who should play him or her?
