Third Batman Movie is Finally Official!

Warner Brothers has finally confirmed a third Batman film is in the works and will be released July 20, 2012.

The studio has also confirmed that Christopher Nolan would return to direct the follow up to his smash hit The Dark Knight. Nolan is working out the story with Batman story contributor, David Goyer.

No title or talk of the next villain, but I am sure the rumor mill will be firing up real soon.

Only two years to go. Let's hope it lives up to the others.

Leia You Can Dry My Car!

I must be dreaming or maybe it would be a dream come true to have my car washed by several slave girl attired Princess Leia's.

Last week a Star Wars charity car wash raised a Millenium Falcon hold full of cash for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Here's a look at some of the action:

Cool Super Hero Birthday Cakes

I will be celebrating my 40th birthday this year and I have been talking to my wife about having one hell of a birthday bash.

My nephew, who is a couple of years younger than me, had a kick ass super hero costume birthday party last year that they called the Super Hero Summit.

I intend to have full blown cosplay party. My wife asked my what I thought we should do for a cake. So I started hunting around for some ideas. Here's what I found.

Most of these cakes were done by LovieCakes.com and CakeCentral.com. Let me know which one you like. If you have any ideas or can send a pic feel free to do so.

I wonder what it would cost to have Adam West be guest at the party. Anyone got the number to his agent?

I received my Re-imagined 1978 Mego Catalog

If you haven't ordered your 1978 re-imagined Mego catalog from the Mego Museum you need to get on it.

I received mine today and it is so sweeet! If I didn't know it was fan made I would have thought Mego put this together. The Mego Museum gang did a fantastic job.

It's cool to think of what Mego would have done if it accepted the offer for the licensing for Star Wars toys. Would Mego still be in business today if it had?

It was also cool to see what other figures might have been released in the next wave of the World's Greatest Super Heroes line. Seeing figures like Green Lantern and the Flash or Superman arch enemies like Lex Luthor and Brainiac in the line up is too cool.

Another cool concept was the action figures based the Batman TV series. Being able to get characters like Mr Freeze or King Tut would have been wild.

If you still haven't bought your copy yet do it now. Click HERE and get it already. You won't be disappointed.

Another Fanboy in the Making

I friend of mine had a birthday party for her son this past weekend and guess what. No sign of any interest in Batman, but that's OK the boy loves Star Wars.

Do you think it's wrong to have thoughts of stealing a five year olds birthday presents?

As I sat there watching him open his presents I thought what a hall. All these delicious Star Wars toys could be all mine the minute no was looking, but I decided the kid should enjoy the toys just as much I did when I was his age.

He had cool little cake with Darth Vader on top. Plus cupcakes with lightsabers made out of licorice.

I just love seeing these younglings following in the older Jedi's footsteps. Go all other future fanboys.

Adam West Gets a Star in Palm Springs

TVs Batman Adam West deservedly received a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars a couple of weeks ago. Here is a look at the ceremony.

Looks like fellow Bat Fan Scott Sebring was there in his Batsuit too, along Robin and Batgirl. Very cool.

Mego Batgirl Comes to Life

I came across this pic taken by Brian C Carter from his Fanboy photo set and thought this girl looked a Mego Batgirl came to life.

Batgirl in a sea of comic books. Yum!

Corgi Batmobile Collection

Here's a look at an awesome Corgi collection. The majority of the vehicles are Batman related and boy do they look sweet.

Looks like there are several versions of the Corgi 267 Batmobiles. Check out the one with the red wheels.

You can also see variations of the Batboat as well as, the Batcopter.

You can also catch a glimpse of the Supermobile there. I always hate that Corgi decided to have the fists in the front of the vehicle molded in red. I had painted mine silver at one point.

What if Mego Hadn't Passed on Star Wars?

Imagine if Mego hadn't passed on a Star Wars toy line. What would the Star Wars line be like?

Lucasfilm originally wanted Mego to produce the toy line for Star Wars, but passed on the offer. Can you believe that?

After Mego's Planet of the Apes sales floundered after the cancellation of the TV series, Mego felt sci-fi wasn't the way to go. But passing on the line was probably what killed the toy company.

So after Mego's polite no, Lucasfilm staff went right upstairs to Kenner and the rest was history.

After Star Wars was a success Mego bought the licensing rights to almost every sci-fi related TV series or movie there was. Everything from The Black Hole, Buck Rogers, Star Trek, and Flash Gordon. These lines had moderate success, but no where near the success Kenner had with their Star Wars line.

While concentrating on their others properties Mego neglected their world's Greatest Super Heroes line. Never producing a new 8 inch character ever again.

Sales began to decline and one by one the Super Heroes numbers were reduced and Mego eventually went bankrupt.

So what would have happened if Mego had said yes to Star Wars? The Mego Museum has put together a reimagined fantasy Mego catalog for 1978 to answer that question.

You'll be able to take a look at what the Star Wars line might have been like, what characters would have been released to The World's greatest Super Heroes line if there had been another wave, what if Mego had bought licensing for more profitable properties.

I just picked up my copy. If you'd like to get a copy of your very own and fantasize what might have been, pick one up at the Mego Museum HERE.

The Superheroine Monologues

I just came across this cool looking play called 'The Superheroine Monologues' and wish I could have checked it out. Looks like it was in Boston last year in April and September.

It features all your favorite super heroines in their costumed deliciousness. It even featured Batman villains the Penguin, the Joker, and the Riddler as well as, Superman's arch enemy Lex Luthor.

The play tells the stories of Batgirl, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Dark Phoenix, Catwoman, Lois Lane, and Storm.

This looks like it was a lot of fun and pretty funny. Hope it comes out on DVD or I get chance to see it if it goes into production again. Check out their site at TheSuperheroineMonologues.com.

Mego Alter Ego Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson Action Figures

Who are Batman and Robin behind those masks of theirs? Why millionaire Bruce Wayne and his youthful ward Dick Grayson of course. In 1974 Mego revealed just that with their action figure versions of their alter ego's.

In 1974 Montgomery Ward sold these secret identities figures exclusively in a two pack set and for Christmas that year I got them as present from my aunt.

I remember them being the coolest thing since I had never seen them before. I
remember getting a Penguin figure too. My cousin received a Penguin as well, but no Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. I was the lucky one and he was so jealous.

Sadly my outfits for these two were thrown away one day when my dad went on a clearing my "junk" spree. That day landed a lot of treasure buried in the Las Vegas desert.

The only thing that survived were their heads, which the Dick Grayson head was used to create my Removable Mask Robin. The Bruce Wayne head remains body less.

My current alter ego figures are not the aforementioned figures I received for Christmas. The Dick Grayson action figure was picked up on Ebay a few years ago, while the Bruce Wayne is a complete repro version from Dr. Mego.

These cool custom boxes were thrown in with part of my Ebay deal for the Dick Grayson.

People have been known to pimp out their wives, mortgage their homes, and sell their first born for these rarest of all Mego figures. Although, my Dick Grayson is original I am just as satisfied to have a repro Bruce Wayne. Just looking at them sends me back to my childhood.

2 Hot Girls in a Shower: Batman vs. Spiderman

Two hot chicks in a shower answer the question who is the cooler super hero, Batman or Spider-man? I don't think these two even know who the Dark Knight or the Wall Crawler even are, but they give it a good try.

Batman has a trust fund? Batman drives a car plane? Where do hot chicks get this stuff?

Toy Collection Giving Robin His Due

I have always been a fan of Batman and he is my favorite of all the Super Heroes. We always tend to concentrate on Batman around here when in actuality Robin has always gone side by side with Batman for me.

So many collectors concentrate on Batman only and it's cool to see Robin be a focus of a collection. These are pics of Mike Hanzel's Robin collection posted over at LegionsofGotham.org

Looks like Mike has a Robin toy room. I thought this collection was too cool not to post.

I remember wanting to get that item with the Bat Signal flashing behind Robin. Not sure what that was exactly, but it was put together with something like plastic popcorn. There was a Batman too with other heroes as well.

Look at that Robin action figure display!

Send us pics of your Batman toy collection.

Spider-man...Where Are You Coming From Spider-man?

I was always more of an Electric Company kind of kid. Sesame Street just never appealed to me. Sesame Street had some animated shorts with Batman and Robin every once in a blue moon, but Electric Company always had Spider-man.

Remember that 70's style theme song? Gary William Friedman wrote several songs as music director and composer for The Electric Company. He is also the vocalist on the song and recorded under the pseudonym Will Power. If you haven't heard the entire theme before take a listen below.

Mego even promoted to "Read Spidey Comics And Watch him on TV's Electric Company". You can see here the header from my boxed Mego Spider-man.

Spider-man never faced any of his comic villains in these shorts. Instead he faced villains like The Wall or Silly Willy, but it was still cool nevertheless.

Spider-man never talked on Electric Company. In order to get children to read, speech balloons (like in the comics) would pop up so you could read what Spider-man had to say.

Spider-man, Where are you coming from?
Spider-man, Nobody Knows Who You are
Spider-man, You've got that Spidey Touch
Spider-man, You are a Web-Slinging Star!

Batman on Sesame Street

I never really was a fan of Sesame Street when I was a kid. Although, I do remember this animated Batman segment with Robin and the Joker, which if they had more of these shorts it would have made it worth watching. Similar to the Super Friends safety lessons Batman and Robin gave a lesson on safety.

It's cool to see Olan Soule and Casey Kasem lend their voices for this animated short. Of course they did the voices of Batman and Robin for the 60's cartoon and the Super Friends for almost every season of the show.

TVs Batman Does Price is Right iPhone Game Promo

I remember seeing on Adam West's Facebook page that he was sitting in a dressing room waiting to film a promo for the Price is Right iPhone game back in February.

Here's the result of filming that promo. Looks like he and the Price is Right announcer, Rich Fields had a great time driving around the CBS back lot in the Batmobile.

Check out Rich in that Robin costume. Too bad Adam didn't wear his Batman cowl or even his Batman costume. Anyway it's still pretty cool. Check it out.
