31 Days to a Better Toy Collection Challange: How a Star Wars Micro Collection Comes Along - Day 5

Progress is mine.

I decided to stick to working on the curio cabinets in the Batcave Toy Room's auxiliary room, actually my home office, next to the toy room.

I gave the cabinets a thorough cleaning and worked on arranging my vintage Star Wars Micro Collection playsets.

The first shelf has the Death Star World action playsets on display. I have mint figures for Death Star Compactor, but not for the Death Star Escape. I have a contact with a former Kenner employee that I probably will be able to get figures for the other set.

I'll keep you breast if I am able to get die cast figures I need.

I also need to find the draw bridge for the the Death Star Escape. I know that little bugger is around somewhere.

Currently these sets are centered on the top shelf, but will be moving them over to make room for a Micro Collection X-Wing Fighter and TIE Fighter. Also, the frames from the door are a distraction to the display when the doors are closed.

The Micro Collection Millennium Falcon is proudly displayed on the second shelf, but most likely I think I am going to move the Fastest Hunk of Junk in the Galaxy to the other cabinet where the Bespin World Playsets are displayed. I currently don't have a micro collection Snowspeeder, but it is in the works. Once I get one I will swap it out with the Falcon.

The Hoth Turret Defense is up and running, but I don't have mint figures for this set either. I will work on getting them as well from my contact. For now I have my "Build Your Armies" mail away figures filling the gaps.

The Hoth World is on  the third shelf and needs some work in the figure department. The Ion Cannon set is fully figurized, but the others needs some help as well.

The Luke suspended in the Wampa Cave is in alright shape, but I do prefer a better specimen. If I am able to score the figures for this set I will replace my Luke with a cleaner figure.

The Bespin World is in pretty good shape with the exception of the Bespin Control Room. It was my first Micro Collection playset and is in rough shape. I just attempted to pick one up while I was writing this post, but lost the bid. Back to the drawing board on that one.

I will be moving the Millennium Falcon to this shelf once I get a Snowspeeder.

This last shelf had my vintage Star Wars Display Arena and some Batman Forever promotional glasses from McDonald's, which were just kind of placed there for safe keeping. The contents from this shelf will be moved to the Toy Room.

You may have noticed I removed the boxes for the playsets and the carded figures, which I think gives it a cleaner look, but Brian from Cool and Collected suggested using risers for the boxes and I am going to give that a shot.

With that said, does anyone know where I can get risers?

I will still have two shelves open after all is said and done and I am thinking about using the space for the upcoming Batman TV series toys coming out this Summer.

What does everyone think about this Summer's Batman series figures sharing space with my micro collection?

  1. Try The Cabinet Store if you have one in your area. They have risers for spices that might be useful. Or Bed Bath And Beyond might have them as well.

Love the collection. I had the Batman glasses, but stupid me, I gave them to my ex-girlfriend. Wish I had them back.

  2. Both are great ideas. Thanks for the advise Mike.

Ouch! Generally, you can find them pretty cheap if you want to get another set for yourself.
