My One True Weekness

We'll I have more than one.

Ice cream is definitely something I never turn down, but I can go a couple days without it. The one thing that I can't do without on a daily basis is soda.

Not Sprite, 7-Up, or root beer mind you, although I do like all sodas, the type of soda that I can't hide from is the ever addicting caffeine containing type.

I easily consume at least 3 a day during the week and if I go out to dinner on the weekend, lookout! I always suggest the server bring me a pitcher to save them a lot of work.

Many of you wrote me and told me soda was your downfall as well and while it can be hard to completely change your diet all at once, some small, incremental changes can make a world of difference. Start by eliminating sugary drinks during the work week. Each can of soda can add a couple of hundred calories to your day, and studies show that even diet sodas have adverse effects on weight loss.

I've begun to switch to the smaller 7.75 ounce cans of soda and have been drinking more water. I've also started drinking more tea and coffee. Even though they contain caffeine. At least they have antioxidant benefits in return. I also suggest drinking seltzer type drinks.

Water is the best and this way, you'll consume fewer calories and be better hydrated for your exercise.

  2. Yes...And since you wanted to workout and change your body the acids in soft drinks are the WORST thing you could do besides smoking. Cut them out completely.
