There's A Messerschmitt In The Toy Room

Here's some shots of my toys from The Batcave Toy Room, which for me has just been a clustered mess. My goal was to find away to display all of my collectibles, but there was just not enough room and it had become a jumbled mess.

A big part of my problem was bringing in so many items and then trying to figure out how to display it all. I think I needed to maybe sorts things by categories or sizes of packaging. Maybe a was a little too anxious or overwhelmed by it all and didn't think it all through before I started.

This wall is a little less cluttered and mainly has my loose Star Wars toys on display. Having a lot more shelf space would have helped a lot, but I really wanted to display my movie posters too. However, the posters took up a lot of wall space. The posters are professionally framed in museum quality frames. They are mounted loose and the glass is UVL protected and I proud to have them on display.

I have been working hard and overhauling the room once again. Toy displaying tips, that I have learned from my fellow toy collectors, have helped tremendously as well as, tips and suggestions on curating from shows such as Toy Hunter and Collection Intervention have worked wonders for me. I now think I finally have it licked and maybe if you're lucky, I'll show you some pics next week.

  1. Wooooow. Looking good John! I share your pain with the posters vs. shelves debate. Right now I'm at 1 1/2 walls for art and 2 1/2 walls for shelves, but I clearly need bigger walls. ;)

    1. Thanks Brian. There has been a huge revision since these pics were taken. I plan to reveal next week. So stay tuned. I hear ya on the wall space. I really think the Dork Horde has to pull their collections together and open a gigantic pop culture museum. ;-)

    1. Happy to provide inspiration any time Cal. Wow! Thanks. I've been getting lots of compliments on that arrangement, but I feel like it's a complete mess. I've re-arranged it all with a new layout that I am really happy with. Stay tuned.

  5. I've been struggling with this for a while now too. My potential appearance on TV has kicked my butt in gear. I would love to see how you put your collection together.
