Vintage Batman Die Cast Metal and Plastic Figure 1979-1980 by Mego

Here's a look at Mego's limited collector's edition die cast metal Batman. The figures from this line are considered the first truly limited edition action figures aimed specifically at the collectibles market. Each of these figures had superb styling and detailing. To me they were way better than Mego's pocket Super Heroes figures and if I dare say, Kenner's Star Wars figures as well.

At 5 1/2" tall these guys were fully jointed and extremely detailed. Batman here even has a cloth cape. I guess they kind of remind me of Kenner's Super Powers line in a way. Nevertheless, these action figures were very cool and I wish Mego would have produced more characters and the line had run longer than a year.

Coming soon: Vintage Superman Die Cast Metal and Plastic Figure.

  3. JBoy- Mego only produced them for a year. So, the quanities are probably scarce. They also made Superman, Spider-Man, and The Hulk.

  6. Artfuldodga- Holy Pizzaria! Are those the Italian versions for the figures? I think the (head, arms, and legs) were detachable so you could swap them out with each of the figures.

Did I mention how much I like it?

I am a huge Batman fan...and that would def. be a piece to add to any collection. very cool!

And I don't blame you...I like most of my stuff MIB or Carded. The packaging is 1/2 the fun of most toys.

  12. Big Daddy Darth - I need to post more figures like this. I don't know what it is about mint in box figures for me. Maybe it reminds me of looking at the toys in the toy store as a kid.

  13. Saw them at Hills Department store in the late 70's. Begged Mom for 1... I think they were 4.60 or so... She said no.

Gotta find an auction listing to link her to...
