So, What Exactly was in Those Bins Full of Toys?
I've been having a great time going through my storage bins of toys and followers have been asking what was in those bins and bins of toys. Well, above is a look at the toys that were in those bins. Most of the bins contained Star Wars vehicles and playsets. Actually, everything I pulled is not in the pictures. I just didn't have room for it all in this photo.
I also put up these vintage Star Wars card backs on eBay this week as part of my purge project. I saved these card backs from my action figures from when I was a kid and many of them had proof of purchase symbols cut out for many of Kenner's free figure offers. The majority of the card backs even still have the blister bubbles still intact.
I am planning for my purge project to run through the month of November. I should be back on a regularly posting schedule by next week. My wheels have been turning with new acquisitions that I have in mind and I am planning to pick up as I continue to re-organize the Batcave Toy Room. Stay tuned.

Happy Halloween from The Batcave Toy Room 2011
John and Claire say Trick or Treat from the Batcave Toy Room. Claire is actually going to be a lady bug for Halloween, but she still loves hanging out in the toy room with Daddy. Including Daddy's Batman masks.
Kim Kardashion is More of a Treat Than Trick as Poison Ivy
The Kardashian's seriously wear me out, but I do think Kim did a great job as Batman's Arch Villainess, Poison Ivy. At least it's more accurate than her previous attempt as Wonder Woman.

Weekly Toy Blog Roundup: Halloween, The Dead Will Walk for a Third Season, and Another Round of Purging
It's been another fangasmic week at The Batcave Toy Room as the purging continues. I only put up one group of items for sale this week on eBay to test the waters, but next week I will probably put up more than one group of items for sale. It's been great going through the bins and bins of toys I have and I look forward to sharing them all with you. Hope you all have a great weekend. In the meanwhile...

Bins, Bins, and More Bins...Bins Full of Toys
Above you can see my office full of bins with my vintage carded Star Wars action figures in the cabinet in the foreground. I've been pulling out my bins full of toys as part of my toy collection purge. Not only to weed out what I am going to sell in the purge, but to put the toys I am keeping in their right full place in the Batcave Toy Room.
The above bins are full of toy parts for toys that I had intended to restore, but most of those are going up for sale on eBay. Still have some original mego Penguin and Mr. Mxyzptlk boxes on sale until Sunday BTW. Looks like I have some work cut out for me.

Let the Purging Begin! Original Mego Penguin and Mr. Mxyzptlk Boxes for Sale on eBay
The cleaning up of the toy collection begins as I start to sell off items that I had either picked up as a filler until I could get a better specimen, part lots that I won on eBay to get other parts I needed to restore a toy, or toys from my original collection that I had hoped to restore, but just could never find what I needed to complete.
I am going to start out slow and pick up speed as I go long. It is my intention to put items up for sale probably every Sunday until I am done.
First up are two original vintage Mego World's Greatest Super Heroes, or in this case Foes, boxes from the Penguin and Mr. Mxyzptlk. Also, included are 3 repro boxes. One Batman and one Robin solid box repro and one Batman repro window box.
If anyone is interested in these items you can bid HERE.

Look out weekend because here I come! I was briefly under the weather this week, but I am just about back to full phaser power. I picked up a couple of acquisitions this week that I am eager to post, but I still have things I am working through. Namely the purging of The Batcave Toy Room. I am intending on posting my first eBay sale on Sunday and re-decorating the toy room itself. My creative juices have been following and I have some ideas I am going to start implementing here on my toy blog. One of which, is the Weekly Toy Blog Roundup that started last week. What do you think? I have had some positive responses to this. Do you guys like this feature?

How Do I Insure My Toy Collection?
If you are are like me and most toy collectors, you probably keep your toy collection and collectibles in your home. Not only is this an inexpensive manner in which to store your bulging collection, it is also advantageous for insuring your memorabilia against such disasters as fire, flood, earthquakes, Death Star Super Lasers, Acts of God, etc.
Under the terms and policies of most types of homeowners insurance policies, private toy collections are covered along with all other personal possessions such as furniture, clothing, appliances, etc. that comprise insurable properties. However, just as it is wise to photograph and inventory items in your house that may be damaged due to unforeseen events, it is prudent that you inventory your toy collection as well.
The best way to do this is to keep a running log of the type of item, the date of purchase and its relative retail value and condition. Conscientious toy collectors may desire to take individual photos of their collection for safe keeping, but group shots are perfectly acceptable for insurance purposes. Such a collectibles log is also an invaluable reminder about what items you have and don't have in toy collection when you have your doubts. Having a toy blog like The Batcave Toy Room is a great way to do just that.
If you are renting, I would suggest having renters insurance to protect the contents of your home and toy collection. A renters policy works the same way as the homeowners policy for contents and possessions.
So, whether you have a toy blog or not, start taking pics of your childhood treasures and keep them in safe place like a safe deposit box. However, before you put your pics in a secure place, send them to The Batcave Toy Room, we'd love to share your toy collection,

Weekly Toy Blog Roundup: Purging, Batman The Animated Toys, & The Hardest Part is Letting Them Go
The re-organizing and purging of The Batcave Toy Room has begun and I appreciate everyone who commented on how I should continue with the blog. I was also pleasantly surprised that other toy bloggers were purging their collections as well. Chunky B, author of Electrorama, is purging is toy collection this week and looked like he has sold some pretty cool toys. I have to agree with him, the hardest part is letting them go. Be sure to watch his eBay shop for future sales. I will start my own eBay sales this week myself.
Here's my favorite toy collecting articles of the week:

McFarlane Toys Debuting The Walking Dead Action Figures at NYCC!
Not only is my favorite TV series right now, The Walking Dead, premiering its second season on Sunday October 16, but McFarlane Toys is debuting the action figures based on the series at the New York Comic-Con the same weekend October 13-16.
I am not one to usually stray from my usual Star Wars, Batman and Super Hero toys, but I may have to do that when these awesome figures come out. Boy do these guys look sweet! The first four released will by Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Zombie Biter, and Zombie Walker.

The A Long Time Ago, in a Galaxy, Far, Far, Away side of The Batcave Toy Room
Here's a look at one of the Star Wars walls from The Batcave Toy Room. This wall is soon to be expanded and re-organized as part of my purging project. I am going to add more shelves and bring in my boxed Star Wars toys that are currently in storage bins. Time to air those babies out. Currently it is all loose toys as you can see. Oh, those are my Jedi field boots on the floor on the left for my Jedi costume BTW. Most comfortable foot wear I own.
The hard part is going to be re-organzing my posters. Those bad boys take up a lot of wall space. I don't have all of my posters framed, but like my toy collection, I have an extensive movie poster collection too. If I am going to build the World's Greatest Toy Collection, I think am going to need a barn like Star Wars Collector Steve Sansweet has to house everything. Especially my posters. I could wall paper my house with them.
You can see my Death Star Playset and X-Wing Fighter, which are both, like the toy room, going under refurbishment. I need to find the foot pegs that belong to my Cloud City playset too. Hopefully, I come across them going through the storage bins. I have already written posts on my Slave I and Creature Cantina playset. Anything else anyone would like to see up close?

Purging The Batcave Toy Room
It has been a a fangasmic two plus years here at The Batcave Toy Room. I have met some amazingly cool people, who share the same interest in toys and the comic books, movies, TV series, and media that inspire them. I'd like to say a special thanks to Jboypacman, author of Revenge From The Cosmic Ark and Invader From The Cosmic Ark, as well as The Boy Wonder (AKA Colin) author of the Super-Duper Toybox, who regularly follow what's happening in the toy room and putting in their two cents. Check out their blogs if you haven't already.
Not only do I love collecting toys, but I also like restoring them. There have been many toys like my Batman's Wayne Foundation that I have been able to restore good as new and there have been toys like my Spider-Man Helicopter that I tried for years to get the parts to restore it too it's Spidey glory, but was never able to complete. I actually was able to find the Spider-man Helicopter at a great price on eBay and ended up just buying a pretty much complete one rather continue trying to restore my original.
So, I have decided to purge the toy room of anything I can't restore, which is mainly just a bunch of parts, keep what I know I can restore and complete the gaps in my collection. Such as complete my Super Powers action figure collection and like Reis over at Hey, Look at My Toys, fill in the gaps of my Star Wars collection.
The toys in my collection give me so much joy and every time I go into The Batcave Toy Room I feel like a kid again going to Toy R US or the toy section of many department stores of yesteryear's. My seven year old nephew loves to come over to my house and just hang out in the toy room. I recently heard he tells his friends his Uncle John has a real lightsaber, referring to my Master Replica's FX lightsaber. His wide eyes and ear to ear smile remind me so much of myself, it's amazing. It is my hope that when you visit The Batcave Toy Room that you have the same joy in the toys that I love and I'd love to hear from you. Let me know what you like about the toy room, what you don't like, and what you'd like to see.
- Do you like vintage Batman and Star Wars toys?
- Should I discuss or not discuss the movies and TV series that inspire the toys we love?
- Do you want me to continue my Quest for a Cowl series or should a start a separate blog for that?
- See more of my toy restoring projects?
- More collecting and restoring tips?
I am going to take a break for a while, just a short one, as I sort through your comments and gear up what the direction I want to take with the blog. In the meantime, I will post what I am selling, cleaning up, and keep you up to to speed on what's happening. Until then, Come on, Robin. To the Batcave. Let's go!

The Quest for a Cowl: The Quest is Over, Sort of...
Well, here it is gang. My Adam West Batman TV Series Cowl. I recently received this masterpiece from fellow Batman Fan, Will Reeb, who hand made this piece of the Caped Crime Fighters head gear for me.
My quest was more than just for a Batman Cowl, but for a complete replica of the costume worn by actor Adam West on the Batman TV series. So, the cowl part is over and I will start to work on the rest of the components necessary to complete the bat-suit.
I want to throw a shout out to Will for making my cowl, man where were you when I was five? As well as fellow Batman cosplayers, Scott Sebring, John Whitt, Darren Nemeth, Lynne and Chuck Williams and everyone else from the 1966 Batman Message Board for pointing me in the right direction. Thanks gang.
Next up my 1966 Batman utility belt.
